If the reported ask is a good prospect and two 1sts, there's no way Ottawa is giving Jarventie AND Thomson imo. If they add a 2nd prospect it'll almost certainly be Merilainen given Arizona's horrible G depth, and if the other prospect is Thomson I don't think they should be giving up a 2nd prospect at all.

1st, Thomson = two firsts (but better because you know what you are getting roughly with a near ready prospect)

    1st, Jarventie = same.

Debrincat went for a top 10 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Not exactly the same, but with Chabot and Sanderson - not sure they will sell the farm. Eichel went for two former first round picked prospects, a conditional first and a second. Hard to argue Chychrun worth more.

Too much to move Dobby. Easy pass. Would rather they bought him out

One of the firsts is to dump Zaitsev. If Monahan dump cost a first, so will Zaitsev. Thomson+Järventie+1st for Chychrun is, while quite a lot, not completely out of question.

At this rate I don't think DAL could dump him for anything less. Cap dumping is exceptionally expensive right now.

I never said that a second do dump him wasn’t prolly the ask. I said that’s too much. I’m on team buyout Faksa at this point

Me too but if we're being real, Dobby dump is much more likely to happen than a Faksa buyout

    .

Fair comment - but Zaitsev is a $4.5M per year with $2M bonus already paid. He is $7 M over 2 years for a team reaching for the bottom is the cap floor. First is fair - Monahan, Marleau were both $6M+ for a 1st. But Mrazek ($3.8 M over 2 years) was swapped to downgrade from a late first to a high second.

    Somewhere between perhaps

If they’re looking at advanced statistics like they say they are, Faksa should stick out like a sore thumb

    Two differences between Mrazek dump.

First, CHI actually needed a goalie. They did not have a single NHL goalie under contract at the beginning of the offseason, so it made sense for them to add a goalie there. This was not exactly a strict cap dump. But as it stands, no one needs Zaitsev.

Second, Marleau and Monahan were, despite being paid a lot to dump, decent-ish players, just overpaid (well Marleau was bought out as he didn't agree to play in Carolina). Meanwhile Zaitsev is absolute garbage. The actual salary left to pay is not that much, but at this rate that doesn't have nearly as big of a meaning as his cap hit, considering how tight the cap is around the league.
