The Jets 2024 1st round pick could be top 10 if Hellebuyck decides that he doesn't want to sign an extension when he is eligible for it in the 2023 offseason. So far he is good with being in Winnipeg and the Jets (according to Friedman). In my view, if the Jets have another miserable season then his long term future in Winnipeg is in doubt. It all depends on this season.

Well, yeah. Look at it from buffalo's side- Krebs is probably worth a mid-first, and we are adding a second. What's Lowry worth here, is he worth the vegas second? If that's the case then the Sabres are trading a current mid first for a future first that they have to hope is at least a mid first. And since it's gonna be top 10 protected (I added that, no gm is moving an unprotected first here) there's not much incentive for buffalo to do this. Unless they think Krebs is awful (and they don't, since they held out for him) or they think Lowry is THE missing piece.

Since this is a summer 2023 type of trade, there are too many unknowns to be trading away a first. If we are making a 2023 trade idea this far in advance, then I'd have no problem moving Lowry somewhere for a pick, that is, drop Krebs and WPG 1st from the trade. It doesn't even have to be BUF involved in the trade, could be anywhere.

Pretty sure the Jets will be in a big overhaul mode by the time the 2024 draft is in view so pretty unlikely they'll part with that pick.
