I feel like Detroit becomes a wild card team with a 1D like Chychrun, and he's young enough to be part of the core for this Red Wings team too

Id be much more open to that. I don't think we have a prayer or getting bedard with that 2023 1st but better safe than sorry with such a talented draft.

Not this year Columbus, Ottawa and NJ are closer to those wild card spots and out of last seasons playoff teams there are maybe 2 or 3 who are at risk of not making the playoffs. So no I don't think the Wings are a playoff team. It also doesn't make sense to spend a bunch of assets for Chychrun with the LHD prospects Detroit has. Why acquire something you don't even know that you are going to need it. If Detroit ends up having to add a defenseman in the next couple of seasons it will probably be an RHD. Yzerman has patience a concept that seems to be lost on a lot CapFriendly users.

Detroit shouldn't be looking to add Chycrun with all the LHD prospects they have and that awful Chiarot contract.

Am very interested to see how Copp does with the Wings and how they utilize him.

If the Wings were a player or two away from a deep playoff run I could understand going for a trade like this but sadly they are not.
Although they should be more fun to watch this season.

Realistically and fittingly, it would be a package that includes one of either Johanssen/Wallinder, another mid level prospect like Buium/Tuimisto, a 1st round pick (likely 23’) and 1-2 more high picks like a 2nd & 3rd.

I would be comfortable giving up Wallinder, Buium, 2024 1st, 2023 2nd & 2025 2nd.

With that being said, I think it’s completely unnecessary to be giving up that kind of haul for a LHD. His contract is terrific but, we’ve got 6/7 LHD prospects that all have a shot at being difference makers at the NHL level in the next couple years.

I do think this wings team is better than most people think but, not at the point where we make luxury deals to make us marginally better.
