LA has no wish to move Quick, nor is he a cap dump.

Edmonton doesn’t need to move LTIR players.

Why would the Kings trade Jonathan Quick in general? Yet we have to give you a 1st rounder?

Unless you throw your 2023 1st round pick into this deal, this makes no sense for LA.

these are all crazy! why would san jose pay a :rd to move a goalie on a cheap deal who we paid a 2nd for last year? this makes zero sense. sam with LA deal, quick was a good goalie last year and his deal is reasonable for a starter level goalie, you’d have to give up picks for both not get them.

Why would we pay a first-round draft pick to get rid of our starting goalie, whom we're paying $2.5 million to this season?!?!?

I assume that you meant the Florida first-rounder and mis-clicked, but even then, we say No.

If he wants to include the 2023 MTL first, I’d probably do that deal 😎

Accruing cap space over the season would be valuable to you.

Drouin can go on LTIR, as can any player. You misunderstand “fines”.

Lol, the notion that LA wouldn’t benefit from moving Quick. And yeah, he’d be the most obvious cap dump on this list. Kings have a vastly superior number one goalie locked up with them.

No one NEEDS to move LTIR players, but accruing cap space over the season is valuable.

Look at what the Flames did with Monahan. Cap space allows you to do other things that improve your team. Kings fans have a choice to either be forward thinking or to be nostalgic. GMs generally tend to be future oriented, which is why most fans would make for horrible GMs.

One of the 3 Sharks goalies clears waivers. You can’t keep ‘em all. You’d be better off with $2mm + of cap space than an overpaid G on your AHL team. No one has cap space right now. A valuable commodity to help improve the overall depth of your skaters and allow you to keep your quality young players up with the big club.

The kings started quick in every playoff game last season after Petersen failed to impress last season. Arguably they are better off with quick-Petersen than Petersen-Copley for 82 games, by a large margin.

The kings need for cap space, isn’t as necessary as you think, Anderson wants around $2-3M and Durzi doesn’t want to lose his role to Spence. The Kings are just leaving a rebuild, it’s highly unlikely they move a 1st for one year of cap relief and get much weaker at goal.

Yes, and when he returns he comes off LTIR. The year could easily start like that in his case though. I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets moved though. A fresh start could be positive for him, especially in a place that’s less of a media pressure cooker.

Do you find how LTIR works complicated?

I think the plan from Grier was to wait till a team or two had a goalie injury and might get desperate to save their season. Vegas is just that right now and there will be 1-2 more. Expect to see Reimer or Hill dealt by the start of the season, if not sooner.

Fully agree. But whoever the worst of the three is won’t have much value. My sense of last season was that Hill was the worst of the 3. Vegas needs a quality starter as their aspirations are still to win a cup. Someone like Varlamov is the type of keeper they’re likely targeting via trade.

True, Weber would also have to move first (e.g. to a team like Arizona).

Fair, but Reimer was very good on a very weak D team with a cheaper contract, and that would be appealing to Vegas, Hill was the weaker of the 3 last year but is also 25 and worth keeping around this season after dealing a Goalie prospect and a 2nd for him last year. Kahkonen is the Starter in SJ unless he falls apart.

There’s a fine line difference between your #1 goalie vs a washed up center. You can’t compare Quick and Monahan. We would never give anyone a pick with it especially. So what you’re saying is completely wrong and not even comparable. We don’t need to “clear” much cap space. We are only short by approximately 1 mil. So in your theory, we have to give up our #1 goalie who we still rely heavily on, plus give you 1st rounder just to save 1 million in cap where we can easily create the space elsewhere??
