Is last season a one off? I'd bet Steve Yzermsm cautiously assumes it is, and keeps the younger, cheaper and more consistent Copp

If Duchene has another year like last then I could see a trade with Detroit but i doubt it would involve Copp.

Nope, Detroit definitely isn't doing that.

I'm not opposed to a Duchene to Detroit deal as long as he puts up good numbers. I would send Veleno back and maybe a mid round pick. Just to provide Nashville with the cap relief is enough value in return in my opinion.

At this point, I would assume Ekholm is traded instead. Can’t spend 32% of the cap on dmen.

Also Connor Ingram isn’t getting that when he’s likely spending all season in the ahl

I agree with this. If Nashville needs cap relief then they can have Suter (depending on contract negotiations) or something similar back. 8 million in cap for three years doesn't come cheap.

I was thinking Suter but he is UFA at the time of this so Veleno would be my next choice. I thought Detroit should have pursued him or Johansen after the expansion draft as Nashville left both unprotected, which would mean they could come real cheap.
