Dillion is not worth a second. More like a 4th.
Canucks decline. They have soooooo many d-man already. They don’t need more.

canucks have too many fringe dmen.

Poolman,
Rathbone
OEL,
Myers
schenn

etc.

they need good top 4 dmen.

There isn’t a single defenseman on Winnipeg I would trade garland for. Closest is pionk but I’d rather have garland

Dillon is not the Dman we should be moving out. He should be staying.

Canucks have a good forward group this year and Garland creates a lot of scoring chances. Canucks will probably put Poolman on LTIR this year and pick up a free agent Dman . Offer declined.

Would you be surprised to learn that we traded 2 - 2nd round picks for him last offseason? Guys that are that big, move that well, move the puck, are physical and playoff tested do in fact hold a lot of value with actual GMs. If you don't want him that's fine, but his actual trade value won't have diminished that much in 1 season. I think your evaluation is way off here.

Given our current roster, every trade Los Angeles makes from here on in has to be both cap-neutral and roster-neutral, and this trade is neither.

Dillon with sufficient retention for Sean Walker is about the only deal that works.

I dont like the deal, but Dillon is worth more than a 4th. He's an ideal LD to put with an offensive minded RD. He's good defensively, kills PIM's and will punch anyone in the face if they mess with your team
