So, this is what VAN needed to become a legit cup contender. EDM crumbs is the best crumbs, so I've heard.

vancouver needs 2 more top 4 dmen to become a contender in my pov.

Foegele is a very respectable player with great underlying numbers who got pdo'd this year but should expect his puck luck to improve signifigantly.

Providing foegele and a early 2nd round prospect who is a sniper for a ltir case and a 4th line winger seems more than fair.

Awful for vancouver. Give up the best player in the trade and take on a cap dump?

In my opinion Hoglander is better than Foegele. And with Foegeles bad contract I would expect a 2nd rounder heading to Vancouver instead of Hoglander heading to Edmonton.

So respectable, that I've heard this for every trade proposal from every EDM fan. VAN don't need another forward. They need a top 4 RD defense men.

So none of argument applies to VAN. Maybe a team with the need. But that is not VAN. Or NYR, or NSH, or NJD.

Hoglander is also a second round pick that had a bad sophomore year but is still top 20 ~ in his draft class in points. Foegele is nothing more then a cap dump

Lavoie is the best player in the trade actually

I'm sorry, but calling Hoglander a "4th line winger" is immensely underplaying his value.

He's 21, well skilled, and has really solid potential.

He was also taken 2 picks after Lavoie. Calling Hoglander a 4th liner (even though he's mostly played a bit higher) is like calling Lavoie an AHLer. True so far, but not indicative of their potential or value.

Absolutely not lol. They were drafted 2 picks apart. I'll take the guy who's scored 45 pts in 116 NHL games over the guy who's scored 36 pts in 75 AHL games lmao.

Is this your best impression of the typical Leafs fan? Pretty good IMO

Easy pass from Vancouver.

Wildly uninformed statement. Hoglander has player the last two season in the NHL as a middle 6 forward. Lavoie has played the last two seasons in the AHL as a middle 6 forward. Hoglander has higher skill and a higher ceiling. He’s also 3 months younger.

This is such a bad take that I have to believe you’re simply trolling and don’t actually believe it

Worded it wrong. I think when all Is said an done, and both players are retired, Lavoie will have had the better career. And who cares that he's 3 months younger?🤣 like wtf

Point about age is that Hoglander is clearly well ahead of Lavoie in terms of development.

And that’s still a massive reach to assume Lavoie will be better in the future when every step of the way Hoglander has been better to this point in their careers. Since 2019 Hoglander has clearly been the better player.

2020 WJC Hoglander 11 points in 7 game. Lavoie 2 points in 7 games.

2020-2021 season Hoglander scored 0.6 points per game in the SHL and then 0.48 points per game in the NHL.

2020-2021 season lavoi had 0.88 points per game in Allsvenskan and 0.52 points per game in the AHL.

There’s no reason to think Lavoie will surpass Hoglander. It would be a huge gamble to assume so
