Yeah, that would be an easy NO from Boston

Really that depends if Pasta comes to Calgary as a rental or with an extension in place.

Hanifin is a top pair defenseman with 2 years left on a good contract and he's from Boston so the Bruins shouldn't have any trouble resigning him.

WITH an extension I'd offer Hanifin, Zary/Ruzicka, a 2023 1st and another good prospect (but not Coronato, Pelletier or Wolf). I'd even consider making the other prospect Coronato or Pelletier if the pick is a 2nd instead of a 1st.

But if you're Hanafin do you want to stay with Boston? Assuming this scenario, Pastrnak is gone in the trade. Bergeron & Krejci are likely retired, Marchand & Hall will be in the final year of their deals and DeBrusk is a UFA. Unless some of the Bruins young guys take massive leaps in development, the Bruins in 2yrs are going to lack any serious offensive firepower while having McAvoy, Lindholm, Carlo as 3 of your top 4 d-men. The Bruins top prospect is also a LHD, so does it make sense for Boston to trade for Hanifin when its not really a "need" for the Bruins.

Bruins take a hard pass - they are looking to move a LD right now vs bring on D. If the Bruins are moving Pasta they will get a greater return than this. They have McAvoy, Carlo, Lindholm and Matty G all under contract - Hannafin is good, but the reality is losing pasta for him hurts the team more than it helps.
