There is a market for NHL players who produce offense. Get over yourself.

Barrie to MTL would probably cost EDM Xavier Bourgault

Barrie 41 points in 73 games with the 3rd best PP in the league
Wideman 27 points in 64 games with the 2nd worse PP in the league
One was playing with a top team with McDavid Draisaitl the other the team who finished dead last
Barrie is making 4.5M
Wideman 762.5K

john klingberg in last 2 yrs all situations.

13 goals
83 points
137 giveaways
33 takeaways
XGF% 56%
actual GF% 53%

Tyson barrie in the same situations.
15 goals
89 assists
86 giveaways
33 takeaways
xgf% 59.8%
actual GF% 62.95%

Klingberg just got 1 yr at 7 million dollars.
Barrie outproduced him, and was more effective defensively in all situations and didnt cough up the puck as much as klingberg ( BY A STRETCH) and makes only 4.5.

Give your head a shake if u dont think barrie would get more than that if he was on the free agent market.

Point producing dmen who play 18 mins a night whilst on very good contracts cost a TON to move out. Its way better to sign worse players in free agency for more money. Thats what the market says.

To compare a similar offensive dman see below.

Klingberg been a top pairing dman almost all his career while Barrie suck

You need to give your head a shake, everyone knows Barrie suck and he only profits from EDM PP
You won't fool anyone, Barrie is NOT good

The whole thing right now is that EDM are looking for cap space.. So Barrie isn’t a prize player at this point… unfortunately… He becomes a cap dump. So EDM will probably need to pay to get him moved. They’ll probably need to include a 2nd round pick versus getting one. In exchange for a higher round or mid-Level prospect.

In a world where the cap isn’t an issue for EDM, they can get that 2nd round easily.

Not a single team would give him $4.5M is he was UFA. It's a bad contract, you need to pay to unload it. Otherwise keep him since he's good value according to your numbers.
