And now all but one signing on the homepage is an Islanders signing.

Lou fires in spurts.

Yea, the whole "Lou is asleep at the wheel" is a joke, it's called negotiating, notice he got all his signees signed at good fair prices, meanwhile all other Gm's that rushed to signed their players, mostly overpayed.

There is a reason this man has won multiple GM of the year awards.

A former 1st-round pick that hasn’t been able to stick at the NHL level. Seems like a low-risk depth signing, though I’m surprised they made it one-way in the second year given that he appears to be at least 8th on their defense depth chart. I guess they’re thinking Mayfield will be gone by then and Cholowski could move up to 6th or 7th.

Yeah, I don’t think Seattle managed the expansion draft very well. Because of the protection rules, there was more talent available on defence than forward, so they picked a lot of defensemen, but they didn’t have room on their NHL roster for all of them. The players who qualified for the expansion draft weren’t waivers exempt, so they couldn’t send the extras to the minors without waiving them first. They tried that with Cholowski, and Washington grabbed him. They should have realized that was going to happen and tried harder to identify unprotected players who were of interest to other teams, so they could pick them and flip them for draft picks, like they did with Vladar and Pitlick. Instead, they wasted a lot of picks on players they lost for nothing.
