Decline...the hawks do not want your spare parts in exchange for the best American hockey player of all time.

so you're saying this team is only one signing and one trade away from getting discarded in the first round again? sweet! this would please me as a red wings fan, it's always fun to see a divisional rival fall by the wayside

So Robertsons value is probably around a second. Sandins value is a second (can be offersheeted) and the rest is just a cap dump. Why would Chicago do this?

Holl = 3rd or 4th or maybe better at deadline if he plays well
Kerfoot = 2nd or 3rd or maybe better at deadline if he plays well
Engvall = 3rd or 4th or maybe better at deadline if he plays well

So Sandin, Robertson, 2nd, 3rd and 4th (to be fair) for a guy who doesn't want to play for your team anymore and only hurts your chances of ending up last in the standings thus having the best chance in the lottery.

And if an offer sheet was going to be done on Sandin it would have already been done. Leafs limited cap space creates a perfect opportunity for an offer sheet and yet.... ????? none can be found.

Lastly... Easier to move 3 contracts at 3.5m, 2.25m and 2m than 1 lump sum contract at $10.5m

I have seen 20 or so better offers for him today alone I think it'll be fine.

So no one even wants Sandin at the price of a second.

Kane is not going to be traded for spare parts, none of the assets offered are a true piece to build a trade around. Chicago moves on

How do you know no one wants Sandin? Most likely he’s told mid to low level teams like Canucks that he has no interest in signing an OS from then. Why would he leave leafs (powerhouse) to join an average team in canuckle land with <50% chance of making playoffs in next 5 years. Same goes for other teams that could actually afford the OS… It’ll get done & he’ll stay with the best org and one of the best teams in the league.
Chicago GM has been fleeced already; & I’m sure Kane will have say where he goes (Hawks owe him that) and Leaf’s would be great spot for him - contender, close to home, play with Matthews.

I’m sure if a bad team offered Sandin 4.2x1 he’d reject.
And, if he’s told them he won’t sign with them I’m sure they’d love him in a trade.
Dubas has also been fleeced before as well so that argument is pointless.
I’m sure he’ll be fine to play for any other team that would want him that have a better shot at a cup.
They’re going to get a better offer

If Kane wants out he controls a lot of his future. That being said he would probably want to go to Rangers, not Leafs. They have a young very good team with solid defense, outstanding goalie and good forward corp. Leafs have sub average goalies, decent defense, but not as good as Rangers and extremely good forwards. But if one is looking at these two teams he would pick Rangers as they went to conference finals an Leafs did not get out of 1st round. And before someone says Rangers do not have the cap space, neither does Toronto, and Rangers have the better prices to make a deal.
