There's no real need to move on from Valimaki at this point, similar to Kylington a couple years ago I don't think anyone is claiming him on waivers if he's sent down at 1.5M, also similar to Kylington he was a projected high pick that is underperforming, he's been injured though. I don't see the Flames moving on from a situation like that with how well the Kylington development has worked out.

With Tanev likely missing the first month of the season I think thats more than enough time for Valimaki to either make an impact on the defence or for us to move on, either way trading him right now would be bad asset management.
