It would have been nice to have Stastny as a back up but honestly, let Newhook sink or swim. I think he's more than capable of taking on the 2C role next year.

I expect Dvorak to head to Colorado for a 3rd and Kurtis MacDermid or Brad Hunt.

you want a guy who can play 2/3 C. Newhook could take the job at 2c, but then 3c is wide open.

So would ER be a 2.5 C if he kinda fixes the issue?

Sorry I should have clarified, I more so meant swapping E-Rod and Newhook to give Newhook a true shot at 2C. Obviously, without the E-Rod signing, you would still have to fill the 3C spot.

Dvorak is worth much more than that, his value is a late round first at this point. He's on a team-friendly contract and only 26 with a bunch of NHL experience already. Avs also don't have a third till 2025.

I really want that to be true but I'm not convinced, with how many times he was a healthy scratch in the playoffs Im not sure the coaches see it just yet either. He can play top six minutes but going into the playoffs with him as the 2C would make me nervous.

I'm an Avs fan my friend, I just don't think Dvorak will be had easy. I agree with you and looking at past trades for a 26-year-old 2C is a value of a late first, which means a couple of prospects and a third or a prospect and a second

I’d say a second and some other minor pieces is fair. After all, he’s probably best suited as a 3C which makes his contract fine but not great. He’s never really produced at a clip that makes you think he’s a true 2C imo. Maybe on a team like the Avs with a really strong supporting cast he could fill that but I still think you’d want him as a 3C.

He would be awesome with Colorado. If Newhook passes him at 2c, he will have a good contract at 3c too.

It's going to be hard to find a 2C and hopefully Newhook is that guy later in the season but I'd target someone from SEA (who have a lot of C) or maybe Puis Suter from DET. Not an ideal 2C but has shown he can play with skilled players in CHI

In fairness I might be passable playing with COL top 6 wings 😂

That's around where I put his value too. Problem for Colorado is they don't have a 2nd until 2025, and their picks are presumed to be late in the round. It's a tough trade to make between the teams, but I think it makes sense for both.
