so we'll be out two young roster players for 30 games of Kane?

Canes pass. Johnson was a Canes draft pick that refused to play here. Let's not go back there

Most of these trades I don’t understand. This would be my deadline

Kane trade: 1-2 first rounder and a second round pick. A prospect and a solid roster player. Expect 50% RS and who knows, maybe they can get an additional 3rd round pick.
Toews trade: 1-2 2nd rounders and a prospect. Expect 50% RS and who knows, maybe they can get an additional 4th or 5th or something.
Domi and AA: both 3rd round picks
Kharia: late round pick:

Replace JJ with FC and it’s a deal.

Although Gardiner likely either gets hurt and goes on LTIR so canes don’t have to clear him for Patxhes cap space OR he doesn’t get hurt and shows he still has some value so maybe we don’t have to dump him as hard as we would if that deal is made today.

30 Games and a lengthy playoff run. Lafferty is a great bottom 6 player you guys would love him. But yeah i figure with the trade rumors around pulijarvi and Ken Hollands incompetency it could happen. Plus regardless of what you think of Kane a gm is bound to overpay for him.

Lol i didnt know that. That is some fun trivia. But the general picture is take bad a bad deal and dump an equal asset.

Hottest prospect in the game. Future Considerations, of course!

Man I appreciate the optimism but no way is Toews going for more then a 3rd. Honestly not even a point of trading him. Kane will fetch alot but that is even a bit of a stretch plus it kinda matches my price.

I just can't see Holland going after Kane. Personally I think the rumors are mostly fabricated by media. Makes next to no sense for Edmonton. Maybe if in the offseason Kane signs a one year deal similar to what hall did in Buffalo then that deadline I could see Holland swing big because that year won't be starting the season in ltir and will have more flexibility.

Edmonton declines. First they can't afford Kane's cap without sending equivalent cap back, second Holland (who is a lot smarter than you give him credit for) won't trade a prospect of Holloway's ilk for a rental.

I personally think Gardiner will be long gone by the trade deadline, but if we are in a position to make a big move at the deadline for a playoff push, I sure as hell hope it is for something a far cry better than Jack 'freakin' Johnson. He was a hanger-on at best in Colorado. His $950K salary says it all. I would shudder to think a 2nd round pick would go out the door for any type of exchange and Jack Johnson is all we get back. We can do better than that. Much, much better. I do applaud your creativity.

I think the intent was more of a cap clearing move tbf. Assuming rest of team is healthy and Payches is ready.

Jack Johnson will never play for Carolina, how he’s managed to stay in the league all these years is beyond me.
