I’ll say it, if that’s the price why not get Miller? Yeah he’s not as good as Kane but the gap isn’t worth the extra price. You could get Miller for half of that and spend the other half on whatever you like

I assume that one of those firsts is to dump Muzzin. But even taking that into consideration all I can say is yikes. Toronto doesn’t touch this with a ten foot pole.

Here's my prediction

If Dubas trades for Kane it will be at the TDL when 3-team trades are a thing as then Toronto can get him for 2.625mill

I’d argue Miller is significantly more valuable to a team as well, can play physical, is exceptional defensively, has finishing ability, and can drive play as a centre on a line with JT who’s slowing

No way...every GM in the league would take Kane over Miller in the playoffs hands down. Kane's on another level, arguably the best RW player in the game, and look at his playoff stats

I completely get that Kane is historically an offensive dynamo, but speaking specifically about the Leafs, Kane wouldn’t have a fit, he has a similar toolset to Nylander, so I would call Miller much more valuable to the Leafs than Kane at this point

Even if that Kane trade happened, that defense is nowhere good enough to win a Cup. Neither is the goaltending. They'd likely lose in the first round again. WHY do you guys always have to focus on acquiring the shiny toys? Leafs are already top heavy enough and now you're adding Kane? Studs and Duds doesn't work.

Edit: You're not a Leafs fan. My point still stands.

100% Studs and Duds doesn't work. Just do this for fun and after hearing a "Rumor" that the Leafs were interested in Kane. Key work rumor.
100% agree their defense is not good enough and either are their forwards. 4 years and poor showing in the playoffs.

Leafs should never have traded for Muzzin, the team was not ready to win at the time. Durzi and Grundstrom are doing well in LA. LA took Dubas to the cleaners.
Dubas needs to win at least 1 series. The 4 big guns keep shooting blanks in the playoffs. Using 50% of the cap for 4 forwards is beyond bad. Horrific.
This will be another exciting year of hockey. Love the CAP ERA. Bottom teams are starting to use their cap to gain picks. Trades during the season are going to change teams chances of winning. Joe Sakic had a great team and made it better before the playoffs.

Not a great take. Thats like saying Tampa should have never traded for Hagel

Jake Muzzin was a very good Dman. The chart below was when we traded for him till last season. Unexpected injuries happened that were out of his control and it shortened the career. Either way while he was here he stabilized our blue line and smoothed things out.

3j3jnm47xel71.jpg

At the time we traded for him Grundstrom and Durzi were a bunch of nobodies who just made their debuts last year. You think Toronto was like yeah we can wait. No. In Toronto Durzi wouldnt even have a spot as we got Liligren, Brodie, and Holl on the right. And Grundstrom would be battling for a spot.

In general the trade worked for both sides and while Muzzin's career may be over he put his all into his game and I wouldnt have gone any other way.
