Monahan being 27, and now healthy, can be a good 2C for next 4-5 years. We resign him to a 4 year 5 M AAV depending on this season. We trade Dach now for a RD of some sort.

I'd really love a rational explanation for TB giving away a top pair shut down 25 year old RD signed at a very good AAV for a meh unproductive 3c?

Monahan just had double hip surgery. Sadly, the kind of surgery described as a career killer in the hockey world. His age helps him slightly but he'll never be able to move the same, hence why cgy had to pay to trade him. So sure pencil him in as a 2nd line C, but very lightly and have the eraser ready

Funny because in my humble opinion, the Habs would never even contemplate this in a million years. Habs would say no faster than the speed of light.

So it's funny you feel the same about the trade from TBL standpoint. Seems like both teams see this as a lose-lose.

Got lazy and didn't go back after GM like here. Seriously though what has Romanov accomplished? Honest question. Cernak has been a top shutdown defender for the last 3 years . Puts up spectacular defensive metrics playing against the opponents top offensive threat nightly.

This is not beneficial to Tampa at all. They’ve got Point and Cirelli and Paul as their top 3 centers. They’ve only got Cernak on the right side with Foote and Bogosian. If I’m Tampa I counter with Slafkovsky/ Caufield. This should tell you how awful the proposed deal above is.
