So do they go all in this year

Description
Sign Robertson and Otter to bridge deals. My best guess for Robertson is between $7.5-8.5M. Personally I’d want to pay the guy top money on a long term deal. For Otter I’d have to say between $4.5-5M.
The plans I’d have in place for the Stars would be role with the line up as is but not for the whole year obviously.
I’d really expect the top 6 to change if Gurianov doesn’t bounce back this season. The third line could change if Dallas decides to make a big trade involving Ty Dellandrea to help the top 6. 4th line can also change if Faksa is used as cap reasons in big trades. The defence could remain as is the whole year though. The problem I only really have is Suter. Still confused as to why he was signed to a contract that long and to the money he was given.

Comps for Robertson at three years are around 6.4 million. If he gets 8.25 it better be for 8 years. Oetter deal looks about right. Swap Miller and Jani. DB said Benn will likely be back to LW. That fourth line is so cringe. Honestly wouldn’t be upset if all three of those guys went away. I’ll settle for them only getting 8 mins per game and PK time. Plz don’t say all in around Stars management. I really like our prospects and we aren’t one piece away from being a contender

Would have to imagine Robertson gets a bigger pay day than that. The guy has been a beast since coming to the league full time.

A 9.5 mill 3rd liner, ouch, the years have not been well to Benn. I think Seguin has a big bounce-back year, his hip should finally be completely healed now.

I was thinking the same thing for Seguin. For Jamie Benn I feel like he’s more of a middle 6 guy these days. But ya the years have not been well to him sadly

It doesn’t work that way. RFA contract negotiations are all about comparable contracts. It’s give and take with term and AAV. If he wants 8.25, then he will need to sign for longer. I didn’t just pull those numbers out of my bum. These are the calculated estimates I’ve read in multiple articles. Comps on a three year bridge deal are right around 6.4 million. Eight years is 8+ million. Teams do dumb stuff all the time tho. So if you’re Robertson’s agent and come with “He needs a big pay day. The guy has been a beast since coming into the league full time” then Nill is gonna come back with “no problem gimme that term”

Long term deal I feel like would need to be very pricy especially with Robertson being a PPG player and a 40 goal scorer at the same time. He can even get much better than that. Reason you pay him around $8M for about 3-5 years to have him prove how consistent he can be and solidify himself as a star player in the league. That way couple years down the line you save around $1M a year when he looks for a higher AAV. I wasn’t saying your idea of 3 years was wrong. I was saying gotta imagine he gotta get paid more. If he signs to $6M AAV then terrific. But the fact Robertson and Otter hasn’t been signed is astonishing to me.

Who knows. Maybe Nill has been on vacation. Maybe TG is being a turd

Jokes aside I think they’re just handling contract negotiations from a business point of view. It’s very obvious they aren’t happy with how Benn and Segs’ contracts are aging. I’m okay with that but not at the expense of the relationship with the player. If that makes sense

I guess that’s a good point to make in a way. Try and get the lowest AAV that you can get out of them. They’ll still be decently young when they sign their next deals
