Sending Bean and Nyquist to the minors would've created enough cap space to keep Bjorkstrand.

I just don't get why Jarmo made that deal so quickly, he had months to see what happens, why make a knee jerk bad trade.

you don't just send 50 point forwards to the minors for cap space. thats how you get nobody to sign with you ever again

You don't just trade away 50 point wingers signed long term for a bag of picks yet that's what happened.

Idk, would future free agents or RFA'S really think back to Gus Nyquist being demoted in his last season and use that as some deciding factor to not sign with the Jackets, I highly doubt it, in fact I doubt most will even know who Nyquist is.

dude wears an "A", i can 100% imagine not just future UFAs but the guys in the locker room currently taking that as a big slap in the face.

Yeah so, you waive him by sending him to the minors, if he gets claimed so be it, maybe I'm missing something but I don't see what the issue would be.

Wonder if they view dumping Bjorkstrand for squat as a big slap in the face, Bjorkstrand signed long term.

I mean, neither of us is in the locker room, but I would think most dudes would see any trade as "just business" (how many of these dudes have been traded?) while burying a guy who's part of the team's leadership and is still a useful player (18-35-53 in 82 GP last season is pretty good!) is going to raise more than a couple red flags in the locker room. apples vs oranges, and all that.

And waiving/sending a guy down could be seen as just business, tomatoe/potatoe and all that.
