I’d rather Stutzle than…

Couture
Johansen
Suzuki (close)
Hischier
Hayes
Barzal (close)
Miller
Fiala
Quinn Hughes
Svech
Jones
Trouba
Duchene
Skinner
Seguin
Benn
Karlsson
Bob
Doughty
Wheeler
Tavares
OEL
Carlson

You get the point. Stutzle has a lot of work to do, and if he doesn’t get complacent and recognizes the opportunity his Senators have (which for non locals, Ottawa as a city is buzzing and the team knows (and the season ticket sales show it)). I think Ottawas going to turn out just fine from this deal.

Still remember when he went against what his scouts were pushing for than drafted Nylander and the next day fired everyone

Almost ended up with a disaster pick that year

But yeah I see his chance thing. Ironically almost happened to us in 2019 where if our ball stopped hitting the sides and just went up we would have got Laf and then through events would have sent away 2020 1st to Carolina preventing Jarvis to them and Foligno to Toronto. But then would Laf do well here or be to slow those are all questions that have little to no answers

But thank god for him in 2014 as knowing those scouts would have been stuck with Marcus Petterson or something

Yea, so a lot good players where a lot better than Stutzle in there second years. Does that mean the contract is a bust?tears of joy

either way idc, i was just trying to point out that comparing stutzle to a few slow developers does not mean his contract is guarenteed to be worth it.

All these guys were/are ridiculously good except maybe Dubois but he’s still pretty good . I wouldn’t complain if he turned into any of them lol

Context for that tweet? Why would Isles fans care about what Tage Thompson says

His dad is the worst coach in the American Hockey League yet he’s one of the longest tenured coaches

I’d imagine the lower numbers are due to broadcasting audience and conflict, Montreal’s broadcasting rights go to a decent amount of French channels too, I don’t think there’s a huge US audience that would watch Habs games

Habs at 0 is kinda weird, but them not being high is fine, considering they are a Canadian team and also suck. Oilers at 14 makes perfect sense, McDavid and Draisaitl are top 5 players in the world and ESPN should want them on TV as much as possible. Same goes for the Leafs and Matthews at 11, with the added bonus of being the best American player in the league and the biggest fanbase. Panthers at 7 doesn’t make a lot of sense though (just acquired an American superstar, reigning President’s trophy winners). I’d also argue the Flames should get a couple more considering they will be good. Hawks suck, take some of theirs and give like 2 to Montreal and 2 to Calgary. If you insist on them being a mega TV market and hockey hotbed in the USA and won’t take away games even though they suck on and off the ice, then the Ducks and Philly could probably afford to lose a few games. I’d maybe give a couple more to the Kraken too tbh

Just pondering an idea that I saw from the Blues last season

Leafs have 3 swede forwards all of which can play C and Wing

Would a 3rd line of

Engvall-Jarnkrok-Nylander make sense as to me I see potential but the issue than comes with the second line as if the Leafs move Kerfoot whose playing with JT

Also Tim Stutzle being an Ottawa Senator for the next 9 years is an unequivocal W for the franchise, and it’s only bolstered by the fact that he’ll very likely be a major steal for its entire duration. The dude put up just shy of 60 points in his DY+2 on a bad team with linemates that couldn’t score (Connor Brown inexplicably turned playmaker and couldn’t bury anything this year after historically being a solid shooter and Formenton’s finishing needs some serious work), and is now locked up through his entire prime. If he only turns into a 75 point one-dimensional top 6 centre, this will be a good deal (see: Mark Scheifele) because this will be the going rate for that type of player within two years (honestly it’s arguably that already). But I think that he’s young enough and skilled enough that there are still levels to his game to be unlocked. I can easily see him being a 90-point guy for the majority of this contract, and because he’s so smart and an extremely good skater, it’s very probable that he improves defensively over time as well. Especially with a mentor like Giroux. According to Jeff Marek he’s gronked up this summer too, and he’s not short (I think Stutzle is perceived as a classic small skill guy, but he’s 6’1” and apparently put on a noticeable amount of muscle) so he might even be able to develop more of a power game. Probably not to the level of Draisaitl, nor will he likely be as much of a bang and crasher as Brady, but he’ll be able to win puck battles and lean on guys and not get shoved out of the dirty areas.
