I hate the Toews trade for a 2C,...if you are trading Toews and only getting a 2C who is worth 5m aav, avs massively lost the trade

I've heard the rumors and where i think he definitely could ask for it i don't think he does ask for that. i see him closer to 10.5-11 mil, which still puts us in cap hell but its slightly better.

Now if he's asking for 12.6 to resign would it be better for the overall team to trade mack over gutting the depth? Sure we lose a top 3ish number 1C but you have to think the haul we could get for him would be huge and then we could resign toews and still be able to afford another top C while keeping newhook and oskar.

Without a 1C or 2C, the team would be gutted, so unless they can return one while trading him, but if they are just getting a bunch of futures, then it will be a major setback, and they wouldn't want to do anything that jeopardizes Makar resigning in 5 years.

Personally, I expect him to take a very friendly Crosby-like deal.

I mean, he thinks he took a discount the first time, but did he really? I don't think so. He just got less than he wanted and his contract was longer than ideal because of that. When he says he will take less now, maybe he means less than he can get on the open market, which would definitely be more than 11m. I'm sure though if they win again or have a strong run next year, he will be much more accommodating.
