1st round picks are overrated anyways

Description
I read an article a while back saying once you get to pick 24 in the NHL draft, the probability of these players making the NHL (from pick 24 to 200+) are the same. Picks 1-23 have a better chance.

So assuming Flordia Pick and Calgary pick going to be mid 20's, MTL should try to use those to get a good young player that will help with the rebuild and same timelines as Suzuki, Caufeild, Slaf, Ghule, etc

Has to be something better than the Debrincat trade IMO... Can be any player like Bratt / Debricat / Robertson / etc

MTL is not paying that for Bratt. That's a huge overpayment.

It's easy to have a single good 70pts season, I'd like to see more before I pay that much for a guy. Max Domi had a similar season with Montreal and never did again (that's one example only).

The point is, very rarely does a player have a single good season and GMs are willing to pay premium price for them. Very rarely. So yeah, a top6 winger, a top 6 prospect and 2 first, and a 3rd is indeed an overpayment for a top6 winger with stuff to prove.

Oh ok I see your point but Bratt is legit; eye test and advanced stats say the same thing. Max Domi is talented but flawed; Bratt is in a completely different tier

Edit : Also, "top6 winger" and "top 6 prospect" is very generous to describe Drouin and Mysak. I wouldn't claim Drouin on waivers
