Great trade to unload Tyson Barrie......one of the worst defenceman at actually playing defence in the entire NHL.......The NHL should make a new rover position for Barrie.

Devils should be all over that, would be ecstatic if they could swing that return for Severson.

For the millonth time, habs have absolutely no need for barrie and unless they get a 1st they ain't taking on his contract, so essentially it's a 2nd for Dadonov half retaind and another 1st for taking on barrie, BYE

I truly don't understand the hate. Did Barrie scoop your GF or something? The guy has done nothing but outscore his entire career, yet is a lightning rod for idiotic comments on this site. It's like a meme.

I agree he does know how to score and quarterback a power play........But watch him more closely this year......and you will soon realize he a terrible defender.

There is a reason that Colorado and Toronto both let him walk.......and why Edmonton elevated Bouchard ahead of Barrie to quarterback the team's powerplay and now trying to move him.

The thing is, they didn't and they aren't - that's simply not true. And it doesn't change the fact that Barrie has a positive GF% Rel AT 5V5 in 8 of the past 9 seasons. And since the coaching change in February, Barrie was on ice for 31 GF and just 19 GA in the regular season - a team best among defensemen. In the playoffs he was on the ice for 12 GF and just 7 GA - also a team best. He's well worth his contract and that's why Edmonton will keep him around.
