Kane

Created by: NickC1988
Team: 2022-23 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 26, 2022
Published: Aug. 26, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
What people don't seem to understand about Kane, is legitimately every team in playoff contention will ask about him. It'll cost a 3rd party team $700K in real dollars to retain on him. If he's retained at the deadline, it'll be even less (Maybe $250K-ish). Many teams will be open to doing that for a draft pick. That makes his cap hit of $2.625M. Patrick Kane is legitimately the best trade deadline rental in the history of the NHL. Nobody comes close to his skill, his experience, or his accolades. He's 33, but his game hasn't slowed down putting 91 points up on a bottom 10 team in the league.

Colorado
Rangers
Carolina
Edmonton
Toronto

Los Angeles
Pittsburgh
Minnesota

The above teams would be thrilled to acquire him. His NMC has a lot of say, but Davidson will surely let Kane and his camp talk to any team interested in him and I'm sure any team interested in him will make a really solid pitch for his services.

So please, stop trading B and C prospects for Patrick Kane. He will have a lot of options, and I wouldn't be shocked if he says "I'll go to New York, Colorado, or Vegas", giving the team options.

Should've made trades with Edmonton and Toronto just to get the point across to the ones that need it lol

AZ is NOT spending money to retain salaries. They are trying to acquire players like Kerfoot who are a $3.5m Cap hit but only cost $750k in real dollars so they can get to the cap floor and tank the season away. Spending ACTUAL cash is NOT their desire.

I guarantee AZ will be willing to retain rental salary at the deadline in exchange for picks if the right situation and offer presents itself. They have plenty of cap space and all the motivation in the world to get more draft capital. $250k to $700k is a pretty small price to pay for another shot at improving their prospect pool in the draft. Real GM's realize that. Whether they actually do it or not all depends on how negotiations shake out. Also, Kerfoot doesn't help AZ and he isn't a cap dump. TOR should be able to get a 4th round pick for him at the very least.

If it's not AZ, it could be ANA, BUF, DET, MTL. That's not close to the main point of this post.
