You can’t be serious. Quinn Hughes is a top 10 defenceman in the league at 23 with a .8 PPG (the highest in his draft class for all players) Nemec is a D man that only went in the top 5 because of a weak draft class

Not a big Hughes guy, I certainly wouldn’t have him top ten, might not even be my top 20. I think nemec has a better chance at bring any all around defenseman

I think that quinn hughes trade is close to fair. NJ might need to add another prospect but thats close to getting it done. I'd love to see the 3 hughes bros play together. And thats some solid rebuilding pieces for the Canucks

In theory, Vancouver says yes. However, if New Jersey calls Vancouver and asks for Quinn Hughes Alvin tells him to F off and hangs up

Ya i think you are overating Quinn a bit. He's invisible in the D zone.

Hughes defence has gotten a lot better. He was on pace for 73 points as a defenceman playing with Luke Schenn. His defence isn’t incredible but it’s serviceable. He’s incredible on both the powerplay and the PK. He’s at worst a top 15 defenceman

That’s such unfair criticism. He was invisible in the D zone in the Canadian division. Since then? He’s been good. In interviews he’s talked about how he worked all off season on defence and it’s clearly improved. He’s not physical but he’s not invisible in his own end. He’s also a dominant PP player, and great on the PK

You think teams actively talk to other teams about trading their core players?

That’s fair. To be fair, it was a lot of games under Boudreau but I think that’s fair to say

im not saying he's a bad player. Just scroll back up and see what you would be getting for him. Severson,Nemec,Graves, 1st round, mcleod...

id personally add a another top 9 prospect to that package. But thats a solid return

I mean for a franchise running in circles like the cauncks... yea i'd consider trading a ''core'' player.

It’s an entirely new management group, have you payed attention to the team at all since the Canadian division?

Very true. Let's see what their first season is like. I personally feel like this group of core leaders wont get them anywhere.

I can understand not having him top 10. To say you might not have him top 20 is absurd though

I think it can. Pettersson can be a legitimate #1 centre. He had a taped wrist for half the year but it sounds like currently he’s entirely healthy for the first time in a long time. In the second half of the season last year (when healthier) he was on pace for 46 goals 96 points. Hughes had a 73 point pace while playing with Luke Schenn and improving substantially in his own end. Thatcher Demko is one of the best goalies in the league and signed to a great contract. I think this core- with the right supporting cast, can be a winner

I did a list in my head, for me personally I had I think 15, so I’d likely have him in the 16-20 group.

From a practical standpoint that is too many d men going VAN way. And if you really want Hughes you have too show it. If I was GM for VAN I would probably do
Severson, Mercer, 1st round pick (2023) and 2nd round pick (2025) and Siegenthaler.
Having all three Hughes on your team that is going to cost a lot, that is just how it is. Regardless where the you think it is worth it or not.
