I dont see the Bruins moving on from JDB and that package isn't very enticing for them.

Lol, take out Debrusk we still decline.

Looch at 50% retained is still a cap dump with a bad contract. Debrusk’s broken sticks are worth more than that package.

Contrary to what you folks up their think, Boston has zero interest in Looch.

It took a 1st to move Monahan. We had more interest in him than Looch if that gives you an idea of what it would take to get us to take him.

Put it this way. You retain 50%. Trade him somewhere that retains another 50%. He’s now down to what his cap should be. His trade value would be a 3rd or a 4th….And Boston still does not want him.

To move his entire cap hit. You’ll have to attach a high pick or good prospect and take nothing in return.

so a wing who's gonna play on our top line for a player at a position that we're loaded and one of the worst contracts in the league. No thanks

I agree this package doesn't make sense and is insufficient for DeBrusk, since BOS certainly doesn't need another LD and that Lucic isn't worth his $5.25 (actually $6mil) contract, but Lucic's situation is much different than Monahan's, who's still owed $6mil and is coming off 2 Hip Surgeries vs. Lucic who's only owed $1mil and can contribute to a Team for the entire Season. He may not be as Offensive as he was, but he's no slouch either, he still has a Great Pass and Shot and controls the Play Behind and In Front of the Net; not to mention the other assets he brings like, Size, Hitting, Physicality, Intimidation, Protection, Leadership (both on the ice & in the locker room), Great Teammate and Team Ambassador, etc.

I'm sure lots of Fans, but also lots of BOS Players would love to have Lucic back for another Season, but the cheapest it will be is at $2.625, since he can only be retained on by 1 more time, so it'd have to be a 3-way Trade of Lucic & Foligno to BUF for Future Considerations and BOS sending a 2nd/3rd/Prospect for Lucic 50% retained. Something like this makes more sense. It ensures BUF stays above the Cap Floor and allows Foligno to Retire Playing for his Home Town Team

His home town is Van. I know what you meant but still.

Bos is already over the cap and has no interest in him. 🤷🏻‍♂️

They have to move out 6m just to fit him in twice retained. The pieces they’d be moving out have more value then he does.

They can wait til next year sign him for league minimum and he can play the Jimmy Dugan role. - Put on the uniform, go out of the dugout smile and waive your cap. Give the fans a thrill.

Lucic is from VAN, Nick Foligno is from BUF. Lucic @ $2.625 >> Foligno @ $3.80. So Trade Foligno + a 2nd to BUF for Lucic 50% Retained and BOS clears $1.175 mil in Cap Space. Move Out or Send either Clifton & Zboril Down to the Minors and BOS is Cap Compliant. BOS has to go for it this year, it's their last chance before the Tear Down & Rebuild IMO

CGY might consider Lucic 40% Retained + a 2nd for Craig Smith, but you'd still have to pay BUF something to take on Foligno. It'd clear enough Cap Space to maybe sign Evan Rodrigues or certainly Sam Gager and maybe even PK Subban for 1 Season, but not sure if that would necessarily be better than just keeping Smith

Foligno has 16 team NTC and wants to play for a contender. Buffalo is not that.

Another problem. Boston is 2.2 over with a 24 man roster. 3 are injured and will go on IR. Which means calling 2 up to fill a roster. That’s another 1.5. Puts them 4m over. Before anything is done.

Only 6 healthy d men. Both Zboril and Clifton will be in the lineup every night, neither would ever clear waivers even if they wanted to send them down, and they don’t. Had they all been healthy Reilly would have been the one to go. But with Mac and Grizz out to start the year they held onto him. Which created most of this problem. He should have been traded on draft day for mid to late pick. Signed a vet at league minimum to replace him, 2.25m saved. Problem solved.

Rather not trade a 2nd to move Foligno just to bring in Looch. If we use a 2nd to move Foligno we don’t do anything else.

Smith/Reilly for Looch 50% retained/Ruzicka/Valimaki/2nd. It would still not get us under but it would be closer. We’d have cheaper options, downgrades but cheaper, for Smith and Reilly. But you guys don’t want/need Reilly.

1 problem still. We still don’t want Looch and now have both him and Foligno.

Smith for Looch with retention does nothing for us. Gives us almost no cap relief and Smith is more valuable to us.

If those Players are Projected to miss 10+ Games or 24+ Days, they'll be placed on LTIR, so BOS will be credited the Cap Space back, which is way more than they'll need for call-ups
I agree Reilly should be moved first over Craig Smith
CGY's not giving up the equivalent of THREE 2nds + Lucic 50% retained for a Player we don't want/need + Smith who might be worth a 2nd or a 3rd, when we can sign Evan Rodrigues for 1/2 his Cap Hit for nothing.
As for Foligno, an agreement just needs to be made with BUF to have him Traded back to TOR or another contender 50% retained for yet another asset so he waives that NTC, should BUF be on that list

In any event, will be interesting to see how things play out for BOS. Can't imagine Bergeron & Krejci came back on Team Friendly contracts to not go all-in for it this year

I doubt they use LTIR unless it’s absolutely necessary. Kase and Moore were eligible all year last year and they were never put there. They just left them on IR.
