I think this still would feel short for Verbeek to want to deal Gibby

I wouldn't pay that for Gibson the last two years. Maybe 4 years ago I would, but there is a reason why ANA is willing to trade him. He isn't all that what he use to be

I see a fit where BUF has young NHL talent at F/D, but no quality G to complete the puzzle. ANA needs W talent and Gibson needs a change.

AHL rookie of the year, plus a top 10 pick? That’s a lot. No team will offer this good of a trade package for Gibson.

For me, it just wouldn’t make me want to trade him though if I were Verbeek is what I’m saying

I don’t think it would be a top 10 pick but I’m also not all to familiar with Quinn

Players won't lay it on the line unless they feel competitive. Cogliano confessed to dogging it with SJ before the trade to COL. I think a trade would revitalize Gibson, especially in BUF with exciting, young, top end talent.

What if it were built around Quinn and UPL?

We have Dostal and Clang, a goalie prospect isn’t a need

Interesting theory with some truth to it, but I feel like he is mostly a spent force. That is my impression of him

Sabres are just waiting it out. Adams is extremely patient, they aren’t trading any top prospects for immediate help and rushing things, that’s the reason why the previous GM’s got fired.

Sounds right. Plus we have Levi, who is a fantastic goalie prospect, and upl, along with portillos rights. I understand why a gm would like to run out goalies like comrie and Anderson, really just looking for solid play from the goalies. Plus, the Sabres d is markedly improved, they added power and lybushkin, that should make the goalies look better too.

They had a winning record with Craig Anderson in net. Comrie will look good I’m not really worried about the goalies this season.

Andersen is my age (old) and has always been kind of a lovable loser. I met him once in Denver and he has an aw shucks attitude. Sabres seem primed for a breakout as long as the goalies don't drag them down. Getting a solid netminder would provide the confidence they need to make the playoffs.

Even with the 2022-2023 version of Gibson in the net, the Sabres are not a playoff team.
His last three seasons have been very pedestrian and he will not have Manson, Lindholm, Drysdale, Shattenkirk and Fowler playing in front of him.
I was at the 2021-12-07 game against the Ducks, I think Dell could have had a shut out on that day with that defense and defensive system in front of him.

In my opinion this would make buffalo alot more relevant and better hockey club. Does seem like a very significant package but after being a dumpster fire for over ten years maybe it's time to start making drastic moves. I think could get a pick back in this deal as well

his last 3 seasons havent been pedestrian, he's been legit one of the worst starters in the league for that time. He's not a good goalie any more until proven otherwise and Buffalo is a top 4 bad team to try and figure it out on

I dont know why youre both being so kind lol. The 1st is already a tough ask for Gibson, add a fully developed top 6 prospect on top of that...
Thats an insane ask

Oh I agree. I guess I worry that it could be a kid that proposed it, usually I try to be polite. But you are right, I don't expect to have good enough odds to get a look at Bedard, but that's probably a top 15 pick in a very good draft. No chance I move that.

You guys can **** on Gibson until your heart's content, but he doesn't need, nor want a change of scenery, and Anaheim is very happy to keep him. We haven't been shopping him as so many pundits like to claim, but like any veteran player on the team, Verbeek is undoubtedly listening to offers.

The guy wants to be a lifetime Duck, and the fans want to keep him around too. He has been a work horse for us for years dragging straight up uncompetetive teams way further than they had any right in going.

As to the past couple of seasons, you put a natural competitor on a team you know won't make the post season and see if you can convince him to play his best hockey. When Gibson can see a chance at winning, he wheels out the old razzle dazzle and gets the job done, he is still a joy to watch play on those nights.

The Ducks are turning things around, and I don't think Buffalo is much further along in their rebuild, plus moving Gibson means calling up Dostal before the defense is solidified in front of him. Gibson and Stolarz are going to get absolutely shelled this season, but the young team will take steps forward to improve their play, and that should reinvigorate him.

He can return to form, we still see him flash it from time to time, and we have no hurt for cap space through the end of his deal, and no desire to move him, so if you want him, you pay through the teeth for him.

Do you honestly see Anaheim and Buffalo as any different in that regard? The Gibson you are seeing in ANA is the exact same Gibson I think you'd see in BUF... and I'm saying that as an ANA / Gibson fan.
