Considering that your lineup is a royal joke, And not even close to the real opening night roster.

Robby Fabbri is out with a torn ACL, Return date at the earliest is probably January.

Jake Walman is out after shoulder surgery ETA not known.

Mark Pysyk is out indefinitely with an achilles tear. So you have 3 injured players basically in the lineup.

Wings won't make the playoffs, But they're definitely much improved over last year and should at least be a 80-85 point team.

I'm not a Wings fan, I made this because Wings fans told me they were going to the playoffs this year, which they most certainly are not. Buffalo and Ottawa are at the same point in their rebuild timelines and are better teams with better future outlooks.

No they didn't. Not on here anyways. We'll compete for a playoff spot but I don't think we're getting in this season. Our D isn't good enough yet.

The Wings fans here on CapFriendly are a lot more realistic than the ones on Twitter.

Calling Buffalo a better team than Detroit is totally laughable, Our Goaltending is far better than Buffalo's if Edvinsson makes the roster. Then both of our D is pretty equal. Their offence isn't any better than ours. Detroit has a top 5 prospect pipeline Buffalo is under. I agree that Ottawa is the better team. Detroit and Buffalo are pretty close. And no true Red Wings fan on here ever said with 100% certainty that Detroit was making the playoffs.

I'll buy Ottawa being better than Detroit right now. But even that's debatable. But Buffalo? Nope. I do like what they're doing. But they're not better than Detroit.

Yeah i'm not convinced Ottawa is better than us, I think we will give them a run for their money. Buffalo is as equal if not even a tad under us. Detroit has as many young pieces coming up a Buffalo and our prospect pipeline is ahead of them. Really only the kings and Rangers have a better prospect pool then us. but we are catching up to both teams.

What excites me about this Red Wings team are the good vets we've added. Too many times we'd get behind in games and lack the confidence to get back in it. Guys like Copp and Perron won't allow that. They both compete hard. So it's not all going to be on Larkin, Bertuzzi and Raymond. We're getting a healthy Vrana back.

Chiarot is going to have a great season. Why? Because he's playing with Seider who's already a #1 D. He just has to stay back, keep things simple and let Seider do the rest. Chiarot is tough to play against which is why teams always want him.

I'm not sure about Maatta but he has Cup winning experience and he played well for LA last season. Hronek should benefit playing with a vet D like him.

Husso is a big upgrade on Greiss. I like the 2 headed goalie monster. You need 2 goalie's in today's game. Ned should be better because the team in front of him is better.

But the best thing about the Red Wings going into next season? No more Jeff Blashill! That's good for a 10 point increase itself!

Detroit have a complete new 2nd line, a complete new LD lineup, a much improved AHL (for injury call-ups) , and a much improved goalie tandem. Detroit will compete for a wildcard spot this season and with a bit of luck on the injury front they have maybe 50% chance of getting there.

Copp, Perron, and a full season of Vrána will improve the scoring by 50-60 goals over what our 2nd line managed last year. The improvement on LD and in goal will reduce the goals against by 20-30 goals. That's good enough to sneak in the playoffs with a bit of luck.

50% chance? Let's say 25%. The top of the division is too stacked, and the bottom is all pretty close. Outside Montreal, any team in the Atlantic would be top 4 in either Western conference divisions. The only way in is:
if Boston has any long term injuries to their top 6 forwards.
If Toronto absolutely doesn't get the goaltending and Matthews misses a bunch of time.

I dont see Tampa or Florida not getting in even with a couple significant injuries. I mean, if Vasilevskiy goes down, that still might not be enough to push Tampa out of the playoffs. Florida got worse, but they are still dang good.

Detroit is better than Ottawa. Slight edge on goaltending, and the D should be better too, especially if Seider got even just a tiny bit better. Buffalo is better, but goaltending and Buffalo gonna do Buffalo stuff, so there's that.
