You forgot the kitchen sink in the Ducks deal.

I mean, yeah, we'd probably take it on the assumption that we can get three useful years out of Campbell and if two or three of the prospects hit were set.

The only good thing out of these trades would be Holland getting chased out of town by the fans.

Detroit declines that offer.

We have no roster spot open on RD for Bouchard (who is a very good player) and we have no replacement for Bert.

I would find a new home for Hronek in this case.

Since it would take at minimum those 2 firsts alone to dump Nurse on Arizona, what are you planning on giving up for Chychrun? Seattle has already addressed their big issues on defense, and they won’t pay for Barrie, so unless Edmonton plans on sending that 2nd rounder to Seattle, there is no deal to be made. Anaheim probably takes that deal, but who knows. Chicago doesn’t consider that deal, with no first rounders in it, since I’m pretty sure you can only send draft capital for as of right now, 2023-2025, so 2026-2028 would be off limits. And then Detroit would have to move Hronek to make that trade.

The only semi realistic trade is the Anaheim trade, and I doubt Edmonton considers moving all those pieces.

Yes but where? There aren't that many teams looking for an offensive RD that have room under the cap and also can offer us a Bert-replacement in return.

Bert will net us at least 2 1st round picks at the deadline or a top prospect and a 1st. This seems very underwhelming as an offer.

1. Nurse is worse than Chychrun. The firsts would be low.
2. Barrie to SEA down make sense. They have Borgen, Larsson and Schultz already.
3. What the…
4. Campbell is bette Ethan Gibson off the bat and a 1st and a prospect is need to give up for Klingberg. No need to add the 2nd, McLeod, Puljujarvi, Bourgault, Holloway and Benson.
5. What in the world is that Kane trade.
1-2 firsts. A prospect and a solid roster player. Expect 50% RS and maybe and additional 3rd. You don’t need to add Foegele, the 2nds and an extra 1st.
6. Detroit already has RHD.

I wasn't speaking of the value of the trade just the fact I would take Bouchard in a heart beat and deal with making room later.

Soups isn't better than Gibson. He's older, more injury prone, and WAY more mercurial. Yeah, he came out of the gate storming last season but was replacement grade the second half of the year.

laugh laugh We're talking Ken Holland here, Ken Holland isn't capable of making moves like this.

Detroit passes, Bertuzzi is worth far more than Bouchard and a late 3rd round pick. And i guess you missed the memo were Bertuzzi still can't play in Canada.

Vax status makes this unlikely, but being traded to a Canadian team would mean he'd miss a ton of games . He'd have to stay in Canada, so you figure 41 home games and what, 15 games away in Canada? So 56 or so games he gets paid, and misses another 26 or so. That costs him about a third of his salary.

Unless the vax rules change in Canada, Bertuzzi has strained value. Of course, if the rules changed, Bertuzzi is a very hot commodity that will have a bidding war at the deadline if Detroit is out of playoff contention and not close to a deal to re-sign Bertuzzi.

I'd be quite happy to add Bouchard. The downside is Bertuzzi is not easily replaced, for what he brings to the table. Hronek becomes very tradeable as well, so maybe a team like LA (or any team with a deep pool at forward and a need for a top 4D) will part with a good forward prospect to add Hronek.

If no vax issues, I'd say Bouchard and the low 1st would be pretty fair. Bouchard was Edmonton's best D in the playoffs, and is easily a top 4D already, better than Hronek, whom I am not as down on as many others are.
