If Tavares went to San Jose, Leafs fans would stop complaining about his contract

Tavares wouldn’t have chosen SJ, and I really don’t think SJ would want that baggage either. That being said, assuming the cap could be worked out, this would probably be a much better team that what they are now.

Add another $2 million as SJS was offering larger contract.

At least the Sharks got a conference final run out of Karl. Tavares didn't give the Leafs squat before that deal became a nightmare. Also wasn't it reportedly 13mil from San Jose? Would have been even worse.
