Drouin sucks at center. Imo the obvious choice is Toews

It is a horrible idea to try and have Drouin as a Center. Just my opinion but if it did not work the first 2 times why try it a 3rd time? Also a middle 6 player who still has top 6 talent when healthy has more value than this. The issue is his heath so conditional picks are far more likely than players or prospects as a return.

That's a pretty lazy opinion, Toews is still a very good hockey player. Despite his speed dropping off you don't need to always have speed when you can guarantee possession off faceoffs every time. Also smart players can make themselves useful when playing with faster players. Giroux isn't fast anymore yet Colorado really wanted him at the deadline

its not though. Ive worked for Chicago since their 2015 cup. My self and co workers have watched him at practice for years now, and his skating has decreased significantly. I understand the smart/faceoff stuff, but you can't be behind the play on this Colorado team.

Drouin is definitely strong skater. He's generally got good tools, but he's terrible defensively and struggles with decision making.

Avs go with the team they have now and make in-season adjustments if necessary. I'd rather give Kaut a legit chance in the NHL than use $3mil on Drouin

Guys of that type (Drouin, Hoffman, Duclair, etc) always have little value on the trade market, they are skilled and can produce offense but their overall games are lacking significantly, well below average (although I'd say Duclair's game has progressed a bit)

Before you reply, know that I followed Mike Hoffman in the Q and called him a future "cup-of-coffee" guy because of that reason, even though he was one of my team's prospects. So this is not a pissing match reply. I'm just sharing this as an observation which is verifiable here :

Drouin earned a huge return based on potential and while he was still young. Yzerman was smart to trade him at that moment. This was IMO the only Bergevin bad trade

This was one of MB's worst trades, IMO not his only bad trade but we can agree to disagree there LOL. I never liked the Subban for Weber trade but it is what it is, IMO trading the younger more mobile D man was a huge mistake. Weber was great when he played but he only really played one full season for the Habs.

I was not targeting YOU, just a general prefacing comment to avoid that kind of response. I think it's just impossible to avoid, some people are just way too emotional and take things way too personal.

The Subban trade is arguable both ways, but not a big deal in the end because both players declined after just a few years.

Basically everytime you criticize a player from another team, someone gets up in arms and creates a pissing match. In the case here, I was trying to be careful and put some white gloves to say I also had these players on my favorite team before and I valued them that way too.
