No one is giving value for kerfoot with the leafs right against cap.

Sandin is likely the most overrated player on this site

the leafs arnt adding a 2nd to get a much worse older player back. The fact that you think Sandin is worth anything close to that price shows you that he's not remotly over rated

I would accept that offer as the Anaheim GM. Inasmuch as virtually every team that can afford Kerfoot is probably on his ten-team no-trade list, he'll be hard to move.

I'd be inclined to be a bit more generous, I'd do it as a hockey trade and see what I could flip him for at the TDL.

Even being greedy and assuming we can twist the knife in Torontos back, a second is too much an overpayment, maybe a 4th is more appropriate.

Panthers top prospect is an underpayment? Leafs fans act like sandin is a future Norris winner

Naaah, just the homers. Anyone who thinks that the Leafs are in a position to reject another team's offer for Kerfoot isn't living in the real world. Toronto is over the cap without having signed Sandin. End of discussion.

you do realise that "top prospect" for a singular team is meaningless right? There are teams out there whose top prospect is someone who woud be another teams 10th best prospect.
And literally no one acts like sandin is that good, hell most people talking about sandins value around here are saying he's worth a 2nd on his best day.

it's almost like a significant amount of people keep saying the leafs will have to pay to move him. If the leafs would take something like even a 3rd for him right now he'd be gone

Not to the team whose top prospect he is.

You're conflating the hypothetical defense of a trade of purportedly top prospects, where one is, say, Juraj Slafkovsky and the other is Nick Robertson, with whether a team is willing to surrender its top prospect for a different kind of player entirely.

I would challenge you to find a current cup competitor that has the cap space and would give you more than a late round pick to get him. Only team that comes to mind who has cap space and is a competitor is Minnesota. Everyone else who can afford him sees no value in him because he is a rental.

Toronto is significantly over the cap, doesn't want to loose Sandin, and attached NMC to everything that moved outside of their league min players and their Coredashians. The only players they can realistically move are Muzzin, Kerfoot, and Holl. Muzzin's only trade home evaporated today when Ana picked up Kulikov, so he is out. Kerfoot is the next biggest contract, and is internally replaceable, and every other GM knows this.

The best deal you would get from ANA is hockey swap Kerfoot for Grant. Minnesota might throw you a late round pick, though their fans seems to think that wont happen. Where else are you going to send him?

no im not, im stating that simply being a teams top prospect does not make a player more valuable than another player who isnt a 2nd teams top prospect . Player values arnt determined by a 1 in 32 pecking order.
the leafs top prospect wouldnt be worth more than the sabres 3rd best simply because he's on the number 1 spot for toronto

no they dont. they will get less than normal market for him. 50 point middle 6 players who can play C, PK and actually make 750k in actual money do not cost to move.

And once again, you've missed the point entirely by failing to focus on what @Theozler and I were both saying. We're not talking here about measuring one team's prospect against another team's prospect, so stop repeating your irrelevancy. We're talking about whether Florida would be willing to give up their top prospect for Rasmus Sandin.

no, you're missing the point by defending the use of "he's the panthers top prospect" as a reasonable defence for a trade being lop sided in either way. You wanna argue he's more valuable than Sandin? Cool, do it, but you gotta bring more to the convo than an organizations internal measurment of a player being a value measuring stick against Sandin. Him being the panthers top prospect has zero to do with how valuable he is relative to sandin

It's amazing how you can keep reading the written word and completely misconstrue it. Neither @Theozler nor I are saying or have said that the trade is lop-sided; what we've said quite plainly at least three times is that it seems utterly unlikely to us that Florida would trade their best prospect for a guy who doesn't do them much good. Why is that so difficult for you to follow?

i like how you broached this with "cup competator" like those are the leafs only options to trade him to. There are plenty of teams who need decent forwards to fill holes in their roster, other teams looking at potential flips and teams that think they are a lot better than they are and want to put on the best team they can. You do also realise that teams can....move cap back! oh my god! the leafs could bring back a player with a lower cap hit and make the money work! it's all so crazy!
and no, toronto is not significantly over the cap, they are less than 1.5 mill over the cap with 14 forwards, which includes at least two guys who make 750k and wont be on the roster.
Toronto doesnt have to worry about losing sandin, if he doesnt want to sign a deal he can sit, they have 3 guys who can play the left side right now.

Literally no one is saying the leafs are going to get clear day market value for Kerfoot, but man, people like you are just so gung ho about them having to pay to get rid of him when it isnt remotly true.
And where else could they send him? Any team who needs a middle six forward. Literally half the league easy

except that theozlers exact words were "Panthers top prospect is an underpayment? Leafs fans act like sandin is a future Norris winner" which is what i am responding to, so you know, the talking point is that using top prospect as a qualifier is dumb. He in no way states anything other than that. Oh, and in the case of it not doing florida any good, Sandin would probably be in the argument for Florida's top LHD right now

Teams who know they are going to miss the playoffs are not in the habit of giving up anything of value for a rental. There is also his No Trade list to consider, which i'm sure is mostly or all non competitors this season. On which teams is Kerfoot a middle six upgrade over their current guys? Which of those teams have the extra 2+ mil in cap space to take on Kerfoot and send back a 1.5 mil or less player? Go look at rosters and find the matches instead of waving your hands saying "Half the teams in the league would kill to have Kerfoot"

Teams who arnt going to make the playoffs take on rentals all the time to flip.
It's fun when you take something i said then have to change it to make it sound preposterous so you dont have to accept im right
