Lundkvist - Who Adds

Created by: KingLundqvist30
Team: 2022-23 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 1, 2022
Published: Sep. 1, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
NYR
  1. Veleno, Joseph
Additional Details:
Who adds?

Rangers need Centers and can take a chance on Veleno blossoming. They can move Chytil to wing and push Goodrow to the 4th line.
DET
  1. Lundkvist, Nils
Additional Details:
Who adds?

Not sure if Lundkvist would have a fit in Detroit’s system, but I know Yzerman likes his Swedes, and a right side of Seider-Hronek-Lundkvist would be nice.

Lundkvist repordedly ask for a trade to be on a top 4. Detroit are probably the last place that he would go. Seider and Hronek are lock their for many year. No sure if that a good fit

Tough to say since he hasn't played in the nhl yet and veleno has. I would make this trade.

I like Hronek but Lundkvist would make Hronek expendable there are a few teams that want Hronek. Suter is a solid 3C with Kubalik and if Zadina doesn't work out you plug Fabbri in there that could work while others develop. Plus Hronek, Veleno and Zadina are Holland draft picks. I'd probably make this trade as well.

I always expected Holland picks to be slowly removed from the Red Wings roster. I'm not high on Veleno but I don't know anything about Lundqvist.

Yeah he's not getting a top 4 role in Detroit. He sounds a bit entitled just like Sandin does.

I wouldn't call wanting to be given a chance entitled. If your boss told you that he wanted your to be a manager in your company but couldn't pay you or give you the job until one of the 3 guys in the position who are exceeding expectations fails would you want to stick around?

Lundqvist iterally wants to be handed a top 4 spot. It's the very definition of "entitled." He's not better than Schneider. That's why he was passed over. Schneider earned his promotion.

I've never had any problem working hard and earning my promotions. And I love competition because it makes me better. It's not always going to go your way. That's life. Suck it up, dust yourself off and keep trying. Adapt or die.

True, but if I was him I would be wanting an NHL spot to try and get my career going.

The thing with Sandin is his celling isn't as high as once thought he's a 2nd pair at best.

Yeah but it makes sense how many minutes are you going to get behind Fox and Trouba. Trouba is the Captain and he is still in the 2nd pair.

I've never thought Sandin was anything special. Same with Liljegren. They were both overhyped because they're Leafs prospects. I remember 2 years ago Leafs fans telling me Jason Robertson was better than Cole Caufield.

You earn your spot. Yzerman says it all the time. Just like Seider and Raymond did last season.

I also believe that which is why I would like a fourth RHD thaw could push for a spot.

Lundqvist could compete with Lindstrom I suppose. But they're 2 completely different styles of Defensemen.

He would have an easier time winning a spot over Hronek than Trouba.

I'm not a big fan of Hronek but I'd take him over Lundqvist.

Right now he's the better player but I would like someone in the system that could fill that hole if he falls off.

I don't think Hronek is going to be a Red Wing long term. He's a Holland draft pick. Yzerman is going to want to be inserting his own draft picks into the lineup the next few years. But I don't believe in trading a player just for the sake of trading him.

I don't see Hronek falling off. It's whether he can elevate his game to the next level or not.

I think Lundqvist could be more like what Detroit fans would like out of Hronek. Having the offense but being more sound defensively. But we don't know how he will do in the NHL because he is in the worst possible place for his development. If I'm the Rangers and you have a solid 3rd pair guy who doesn't mind playing behind Fox and Trouba getting less minutes than most other 3rd pair guys I'd keep him happy.

Even if we could get something good for Hronek. Where were the 2 of you the whole time I've been defending Hronek because we do need offense from our defensemen.

Lundqvist seems to be struggling adjusting to NHL ice. He's not the only one and he certainly won't be the last. Remember when we kept waiting for Kindl and Smith to emerge? They never did. Smith at least carved out a decent career for himself because he can skate, plays physical and is willing to drop the gloves.

But both players were first round picks. Just like Lundqvist. That's why these guy's get so many chances. Like Juolevi and Cholowski.

You spend most of the season arguing with me over getting rid of Hronek and I finally get on board with a Hronek trade and you flip sides.

Hronek seemed lost after Seider took over being the #1 guy. Playing with Maatta should settle him down a bit and allow him to be more offensive. That's what I'm hoping for anyways.

But I think you are missing the point I'm trying to make both Fox and Trouba are 1st pair dmen on most teams. The players in front of Cholowski and Juolevi were Staal, Dekeyser and Leddy.

And Lundqvist was beaten out by Schneider fair and square. Wouldn't it be better for Lundqvist to communicate his frustration privately? How does this help his trade value when every GM now knows he wants out of New York?
