Description
Ok this sucks he was probably still going to be traded anyways but this still sucks

I loved what I saw from Lundkvist and he will be an amazing pickup for any team that grabs him

Another thing to know that if you trade for him he has to be plying in the NHL the reason he wont play woth the Rangers is partly their depth at RD but i think its more so that his AHL salary is just too low and he likely wouldnt make the team

Option 1- trade him now, despite rumors i think this is less likely than most think. Drury likes to add at the deadline or at the very least when there is a glaring issue. Right now I dont see a glaring issue that can be solved without adding an expensive player they cant afford. Having said that if they do trade him now i think it is most likely for a not yet NHL ready player (ideally center) but i need to stress NON NHL READY the rangers dont have cap space or roster space for an NHL ready player right now. Thats why i dont think Sandin is a good fit, Rangers already are good on D and cabt afford Sandin anyway.

Option 2: i alluded to this above but i think this is far more likely. Loan Nils back to SHL have him play there to make him happy and then trade him at the deadline for a bigger piece they know will address a need. Drury has said a few times this is how he likes to do this, and we saw it last year with Copp, Motte, and Vatrano. As for who this trade could be for… who knows, could be kane if one of Kakko, Kravtsov, or Laf isnt able to play in a top 9 spot. Could be another RW could be a third line center if chytil cant play well enough, who knows what itll be by the deadline but i think this is the most likely outcome.

I know this isnt the most exciting take ok this but I think its the most realistic

Stars easily decline, it’s Dellandrea or no dice. Lundkvist doesn’t have the value to get a top prospect, and with the current news of NYR wanting to get him certainly doesn’t help.

Fair enough like I said that was more of a personal pipe dream than a realistic offer. This post was more to express that i think Nils will be dealt at the deadline not now

Top prospect is a stretch. He’s a good prospect, but a top prospect is someone that is likely a big time impact player or at least was drafted to be one. Middle second round pick that’s smaller and undersized doesn’t scream that.

Sorry but no, he was 3rd in the WHL in scoring with over 100 points in about 50 games and despite being on the smaller size plays a gritty, agitators game. He fell to the second round but i have a feeling a lot of people will regret that very soon

Scoring a ton in juniors as an older player doesn’t mean as much to me. If he did the his draft year, that’d be saying something. Kind of why I’m tempering expectations on Othmann.
