I love Stammer, but resigned he should be at $6 mil. Keeping him at $8.5 mil keeps the team too top heavy, when the extra money could shore up the 3rd line. Also I really hate the Sergachev deal. He should be making what Cirelli is making, not $8.5 mil. Of the three big extensions this summer, that’s the only one I have an issue with. Sergachev is not an $8.5 mil player, I’d say $6-6.5 would’ve made sense, but that deal is likely going to be a bad one imo.

How do you figure that on Sergachev? With what defenseman are getting he is actually just costing TB fair market value. V
H first 5 seasons 333 gp 39 goals 115 assists 154 points
MS 362 gp 36 goals 138 assists 174 points
Hedman is drastically underpaid.much better to lock a guy up and pay him for his age 24-33 seasons when he'll be his best.

I think this year will be the key to see whether he can step up or not. Just cause everyone else signs big expensive deals that aren’t great, doesn’t mean that should be followed. I have hope that he’ll live up to his deal. Just have a hard time believing he is worth that much more than Cernak cause he puts up more points.

I just think he gets very under appreciated on here as I showed earlier when compared to Hedman at the same point in their careers Sergachev has been just as good if not better. Everyone is going to eat their words who've said that this contract is too much.

I hope so. That would mean he’s exceeded the expectations which will only help the team.

Yeah, his contract is horrible and he's nowhere near the defenseman Hedman was at the same age. It's one of the 1st times Tampa has mistakenly given a contract based on what a player may become rather than what they've already shown. He was worth 6.5, 7 at the absolute high end. Cernak and Cirelli were very slight overpays if at all(maybe 250-500k), but Serg was an awful deal for right now. Hopefully he reaches that top pairing #1/2 dman level, because if not it will turn out to be one of the worst contracts the team has signed in a long time. If he does though, it could look like a great deal once the cap starts to rise significantly in a couple of years.
