I love teh addition of Jeannot, but we don't need another d-man; we already pretty much have one of the best in the league.

I would, however, consider offering Hanifin, Zary, and Dube for Jeannot and a mid-rd pick.

If it has to be an offer that Nash can’t ignore, do they need to add another roster player? Or a prospect?

no i mean nashville just doesn't trade jeannot. if you keep adding draft picks it gets to a point where its not realistic. don't know why cgy moves on from dube either? its just not a trade either team need to make.

No thats more than id be willing to pay, they're both unproven players you can argue JP has had more of a showing in the league but hes also been put on a line with Draisaitl and McDavid and failed to produce and considering a good defencemen is harder to find than a good winger, a 3rd is already too much when you see that the Oilers have a plethora of good wingers but a pretty lacklustre defensive core so I don't see the Flames giving more than whats needed to make their rivals a better team.

You could upgrade to a 1st and Edmonton still wouldn't do it. They have no use for another left shot AHL defenseman and the 1st won't help them win this year or next. Meanwhile Puljujarvi's on ice impact was top-5 in the entire league last year, he had a positive impact on every single teammate he played with and was on pace to score nearly 70 points before he got COVID and then injured.

Edmonton has at least 4 LHD ahead of Valimaki, maybe 5, he'd be buried in the Oilers organization. Now consider that he's no longer waivers exempt, so if he does have any value they'll lose him to waivers anyhow, so it's not like he'd help their AHL team either.

Only LD EDM has that's better than Valimaki is Darnell Nurse. Valimaki would be 2LD and Ryan Murray would be his only competition. Koekkoek, Broberg, Samorukov and Niemelainen are not as good as Valimaki and none of them would be able to make the Flames either. Just cause Valimaki's in the AHL, doesn't mean he's not good, it just means the Flames Defense is Amazing. EDM should definitely be interested in Valimaki AFAIC

Ruzicka signs for more, No to the Dube Trade he'll produce more than Jeannot this year given the TOI and I like the idea of Puljujarvi but that's just a bit rich. I'd offer Valimaki + Duehr/4th.

Rumors were EDM would probably only get a 2nd or 3rd for Puljujarvi

I could live with that offer for Puj. Do you think New Jersey would consider Dube, Coronato, and a 1st for Mercer? Would that be worth it?
Also how much do you think Ruzie gets?

You missed Brett Kulak. And anyway both Valimaki's AHL results and his NHL results are well behind the likes of Broberg and Murray... I doubt he's any better than Samorukov, TBH.

AHL stats last season
23 year old Valimaki: 35, 2-16-18 +1
22 year old Samorukov: 51, 3-15-18 +16
20 year old Broberg: 31, 4-19-23 +14

You're going to have to face it: Valimaki is a mediocre defenseman even in the AHL. He's not special offensively and he's just meh defensively. He's not making an NHL playoff roster any time soon.

And they didn't move him, did they? If you want Puljujarvi you'll have to offer something Edmonton wants, you can't get him for a 2nd.

It's getting down to crunch time here for Holland though and they may be forced to accept whatever is offered OR pay a Draft Pick to ship Foegele out. Oilers are about $415k over the Cap with Klefbom & M.Smith on LTIR and still need to sign Ryan McLeod and add a another Forward to have a complete 23 man roster, so they'll need to open up at least $2-2.5mil to do so

Samorukov was benched after just 2 Shifts and 2:28 TOI in which the other Team Scored on BOTH of his Shifts... That's all the NHL Experience he has and you think he's Better and More NHL Ready than Valimaki!?

Ryan Murray was a Good Low Cost/Risk Signing and he's Decent when he's Healthy, but staying Healthy has been a problem for Murray his entire career. He's only played 1 Complete Season out of 9. I wish him the Best but I'll be surprised if he doesn't get injured in Training Camp and it'll be a Miracle if he plays more than 30 Games this Season. Valimaki is Bigger, Younger, Healthier & Simply Better Overall

Broberg may eventually become a Good NHL Defensemen, but at just 21, he probably shouldn't even be up in the NHL yet. He's only got 23 Regular Season Games and not even 1 Period of Playoff Hockey under his belt. He played 3 shifts in the Playoffs, that's it. Goes to show you how much they Trust Broberg still. He's just not ready for Full-Time NHL Duties yet and should be continuing to Develop, Bulk Up and Gain Confidence in the AHL. Bouchard & Valimaki are NHL Ready, Samorukov & Broberg are not, neither is Nimelainen

When Murray goes down, you're better off calling up Slater Koekkoek or Re-Signing Kris Russell, but Valimaki would be Much Better than Every Option the Oilers currently have other than Nurse. I'll give you Kulak played well for EDM last season, but he'll have to continue that play before I believe he's in fact better than Valimaki

Go back and re-read my post, nowhere did I say anything about Samorukov's NHL readiness. I mentioned NHL stats for Murray and Broberg, but not for Samorukov.

Better Overall? tears of joy Valimaki can barely hold his own in the AHL let alone hold down an NHL job. Murray is at least an NHL player, if oft-injured. And being the Oilers presumptive 7th defenseman, he won't be asked to play the whole season so injuries aren't a concern.

I'm pretty sure Holland signed Murray to share the #6 spot with Broberg, so Manson can bring him alone at his own pace. He likely won't get every game in the early goings, but the goal is to have him full time by seasons end. And I don't know how you can be so convinced Valimaki is NHL ready when his results in the AHL have been mediocre. There's nothing indicating that he's NHL ready and at 24 his on ice results are markedly worse than 20 year old Broberg's. That's telling.

You should know that capitalizing words incorrectly doesn't add to their value, it just makes you look dumb. Valimaki isn't an NHL player and has no value to Edmonton, get over it.
