Description

Vegas will finish 6th in the Pacific. I think this will be another down season for the Golden Knights. The injury to Robin Lehner will hurt their goaltending, we don’t know whether Thompson can handle a larger workload. However, in the small sample size he played, he did really well. The trade for Hill was amazing for Vegas as Hutchinson is inconsistent. They also have Patrick on LTIR, they are hoping that Manninen can replicate his production. According to a lot of sources, Manninen will be playing in the Golden Knights bottom six. He was the player that scored the GWG for Finland during the World Championship gold medal game. A full season of Eichel and a healthy Mark Stone on a line together will be lethal. Kessel in the bottom six will give Vegas a goal-scoring presence. High chance he goes back to the 30+ goal scorer he once was, now that he’s on a contender. Overall, I expect the Golden Knights to be competitive, but the Pacific Division is deep. With the goaltending gone and questions regarding their bottom 6, they will miss.

Brossoit will be placed on LTIR to start the season and probably placed on waivers once he comes back, that should provide them another ~1.1M. I also don't thingkHague is going to be getting much more than 2M. I'm not sure Vegas is done yet but I could definitely see them targeting Milano or similar still

If the Knights goaltending holds up and they stay healthy they can easily challenge for 1st in the Pacific with Calgary, really don't know wtf they were thinking with some of the moves they've been making the last couple years, they will miss Patches.

Vegas' return for Patches was awful but with him being hurt for 3/4 of the season keeping Patches would have hurt the Golden Knights even more. They needed his 7M to sign the majority of their UFA and RFA. I will agree they will miss his production in a vacuum where he is healthy for a full season.
