That defense will cave.

The only defender on the right side that can play PK is Seider. Lundqvist has an even worse giveaway stat than Hronek and he's a bad hitter and a mediocre shot blocker.

I would like to trade for Lundkvist but only as a potential Hronek replacement if needed on the future. Wouldn't swap out Lindstrom.

I get with the lack of depth on the right a guy like lundqvist would make some sense.

Joe Veleno - Plays 71 games in NHL. Has never complained once about not getting enough playing time or being demoted to the AHL. Just keeps working harder to earn his spot.

Nils Lundkvist - Plays 25 game in the NHL, only gets 4 points. Then demands top 4 roster spot when he hasn't proven to outplay Fox, Miller, Trouba or Schneider.

Which attitude would you rather have?

Joe V will be a very solid 3C in the NHL. Possibly even a solid 2C in 4-5 years time. Don't trade him for an entitled brat.

Just to clarify.
He doesnt want a top 4 role. He wants to play in the nhl.
He just plays on the right side and is absolutely blocked by 3 defenseman all under the age of 29.
That being said nils for veleno is probably equal value, but I dont see veleno making the rangers roster unless we can't re-sign chytil.

Just to clarify. If Lundkvist wants to play in the NHL then he needs to earn his spot. That means out play the guys above him on RD all under 29. Either that or adapt and learn to play LD. If he can't do that he doesn't deserve to be in the NHL.

No thanks not trading Veleno for Lundqvist.

Nils Lundqvist wants top 4 minutes, He's not getting that in Detroit with Seider and Hronek in the top 4 RD spots. Detroit passes. Plus Yzerman wants his Dmen 6'0" and up not shorter.

That's fine if we got him on the cheap but I'm not giving up a centre prospect for him. Besides the reason he wants out of New York is that he's not getting top-4 icetime and PP-duty, he wouldn't get that here either with Seider and Chiarot doing the PP and with him not going to report to training camp in New York he wouldn't report here either knowing that he'd be in Grand Rapids the entire season.
