21 man roster somehow

Created by: GordM85
Team: 2022-23 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 2, 2022
Published: Sep. 2, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Mcleod is really taking one for the team here....sign a 1 year only and he gets his extra $100k next year instead.

Maximizes the LTIR pool being so close to cap, allows team to go 11-7 if a forward gets hurt and carry a dman incase a D gets hurt.

Holloway can be sent down but as per puck pedia needs to be on opening roster for bonus purposes if he expects to play at all this year.

I have a better idea -- give Warren Foegele away. Then you can pay McLeod what he's worth and get two players to replace Foegele.

I like Foegele and think he has some value....in saying that would not be oppossed to see him leave but not with additional assets like many want to attach a 2nd rounder to get rid of him.

Id much rather underpay Mcleod on a 1 year deal 100k than trade a pick wiht Foegele

Aside from the fact that you're probably underpaying him by about a quarter of a million, you're mischaracterizing the choices by omission.

Your choice is between underpaying McLeod and running a 21-man roster and trading a pick with Foegele and running a 22-man roster.

Most people in Edmonton seem to think there is going to be a 20 man roster submitted. This gets them to 21 without trading assets.

I will etransfer you $100 if Mcleod signs for $1M or more cuz its not happening

I believe that it was highly-respected Edmonton adherent @CD282 who told me the contrary.

Me? I'm the Rodney Dangerfield of Oilers fans! tears of joy

I expect McLeod will get a similar deal to what Puljujarvi and Yamamoto signed for last time ($1.175M), but I suppose anything is possible. I mean, if the guy's willing to flip you a Benjamin, do I get 50%? cool

Stauff has eluded to for last 10 days on his Oilers Now show Mcleod will be signed on a 1 year deal and under $1M....

He isnt right 100% of the time but he floats out most things for org before they happen. Has said numerouns times that with no arb rights he will likely need to be ground on by the Oil for a contract under 900k. My example here would be a hand shake of taking a deal for cap this year to get to 21 man roster and then next year if he wants $1M then they sign him for $1.2 on a wink wink deal....essentially he gives up $100k this year to make cap work and team rewards him with 200k next contract to make it work

Well, if you and I disagree vehemently about John Gibson but agree on virtually every other Oiler-related issue, then I have no choice but to treat you as an expert who just may be right about our one area of dispute.

Rather than money, I'd prefer that the three of us agree to go to our respective favorite Mexican restaurants some Tuesday night and drink one of at least three of the following"
Carta Blanca
Corona
Modelo
Pacifico
Superior
Dos Equis (green bottle)
Dos Equis (amber bottle)

Uber away!

Yeah, I don't think that will work. By this time next year I think he's going to be worth much more than $1.2M. He's starting to put all his skills together.

That's why I'd go $1.175M x 2 right now.
