Jackets don’t have the cap space for that trade, aren’t giving up a pick and the better defenseman

I don't see why the Isles take on Dickinson.

WOOF! 8 x 8 after one good season? I mean... It was a VERY GOOD season, don't get me wrong. But that is a very large bet on a 29 year old forward who hasn't shown much consistency in the NHL. I can see people calling for Allvin's head within a year or two because of that.

Our RD situation is very similar to your RD situation. Shockingly similar, in fact. Lots of parallels. If what you're offering for Peeke to cover the gaps in our RD would be insufficient for Vancouver, they are also insufficient for us. We are not the team to talk to. Please understand this and FOR G-D'S SAKE LEAVE US THE HECK ALONE ALREADY WHAT IN THE WORLD DID WE DO TO ALL Y'ALL TO DESERVE THIS HARASSMENT

7 x 8M AAV, you got it wrong. Funny how 1 year of term makes such a big difference, but saying Miller is inconsistent is absolutely false

Inconsistent is probably the wrong word. But he has only been a point per game player in 2 of his 10 seasons in the NHL. Also, one year of term does not make a difference in this case. He has been a VERY good player in his 3 seasons in VAN, but that is a massive commitment to a player that turns 31 during the same season the contract begins. Think about it, he will be 38 when this contract expires. If he starts to wind down at 31-34 years old, like most NHL players do, VAN fans will be screaming for a trade or a buyout. Especially when VAN has a lot of young players that are going to need to get paid in the next handful of seasons. Personally, I think he deserves it and I'm happy when good players get paid in the NHL. I'm just surprised that a GM would make that kind of commitment to a player his age. From a business aspect, it is VERY risky.

Of course it's risky, committing significant money to players in their 20's carries risk too you know. Power play specialists, like JT Miller do have a decent chance of ageing better than most. Not saying Miller will age like Pavelski, but there is some additional optimism to be had
