Considering they chose him over Shane Wright I am going to say no.

Thought here was Sandin can't crack the top 3 LD on the leafs , Nemec can't crack top 3 RD on devil's.

Nemec has no NHL resume yet but Sandin does and most would agree he should be a top 4 dman or atleast given a fair chance to prove it. This trade could set the players and teams up Abit better positionally.

But would jersey really part ways with a 2nd overall before seeing what he's got?

ofc nemec has no nhl resume he just got drafted
sandin is worth a 2nd, robertson is an okay prospect
so 2 seconds and a C prospect can get the 2OA pick

Sandin wouldn't make the 3rd pairing on teams with a good blueline.

Is it enough.........probably not.
If I was Jersey, would I do it? Definitely not.

IMO you don't trade a top 5 pick before he gets a chance to make an impact on your team.

@MoxNix I disagree with you on Sandin. I think he could be a second pairing dman on many NHL teams, including the Leafs. Not i CAL or COL or STL, but most teams definitely.

Trading a top 5 pick player Before he could event do a 9 game show off is dumb in my opinion. Why would you pick them if is for to move them out 2 to 3 month from now. NHL evolve fastly, no one know what could happen in two three years maybe there will be a spot for Nemec on Jersey line up. Injury or trade could still happen and help him get a spot.

Flat out the Devils would just never do this. They picked Nemec as a long term answer on the blue line, no way we give up on him that easily and for such garbage no less

Long-term answer? You guys already have Hamilton and Marino long-term. Fitz and crew just didn't want another top 6 center on their hands and everybody jumping on the trade alert

It's really hard to crack the line up when no NHL games have been played since he was drafted.

Have you looked at their RD contracts and players? Even if he cracks it then the team has a big contract not playing ...I obviously address the issue that he hasn't played yet in the league in my post you quoted.
