Opening Night Lines

Team: 2022-23 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 3, 2022
Published: Sep. 3, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
no crap montreal trades here
we're still better then the wild

quick explanations

Connor-Dubois-Perfetti, Nasty top line with great chemistry last year. Perfetti could be a Calder darkhorse. Perfetti>Rossi

Ehlers-Schiefele-Appleton- Ehlers and schiefele had great chemistry last year. Appleton is mostly here to separate scheifele and wheeler. But he has some upside and needs to prove he's worth his new contract and could add defensive stability to this line.

Barron-Lowry-Wheeler- most interesting line. 3 players 6`4 or above. Could be hard to play against. Barron and Lowry can cover for wheeler's defensive issues. Wheeler can finally get some rest so he can still skate by the end of the season. We finally get a third line with some scoring upside. very high on Barron not sure about other jets fans.

Harkins-Gustafsson-Gagner- The free agent signing we were waiting for. Gus over toninato any day. Decent 4th line and Gustafsson has some upside and could move up.

Morrissey-Schmidt Even though melo and jomo were good together. Schmidt and morrissey should be our top line.

Dillon-Pionk- Everyone's a bit down on pionk. But i think he'll bounceback. Hopefully dillon is less of a pylon this season.

Heinola- Demelo- Finally heinola is in the lineup. Why i still have hope. Give him demelo as a partner and he'll be able to thrive. If Heinola hits our defense is suddenly looking pretty good.

Connor Hellebuyck is a saint, i apologise for all the quality chances the jets gave up thoughout the years

I kind of wanna see a Connor/Dubois/Appleton, harkins/scheifele/wheeler, and ehlers/barron/perfetti, and Lowry with a rotation of wingers, toninato/reichel/gagner/Gus and whoever else that gets an opportunity. Still think there’s a trade of some sort coming with an abundance of defenseman, would like to see heinola/samberg get some healthy looks, and not forget completely about stanley but try to limit his games and minutes, possibly a more effective player with less minutes and more of a set partner. Starting to look forward for the season to get rolling.

I like the centre-winger pairings you have gone with (Dubois-Connor, Scheifele-Ehlers, Lowry-Wheeler) and then backfilling the other winger spot to complete the line, with Wheeler on 3RW possibly helping Lowry offensively. If Bowness redistributes ice time away from the top 6 / bottom 6 approach under the previous staff, then the forward group may actually have better results.

First off Ehlers > Nylander.

Second, this is a solid team as long as they don't miss the playoffs by 3 spots again grimace
