Why are the Sevs doing this?

Mercer = Nylander + Sandin
Mango = 3rd
Sevs = 1st + 2nd

I guess it is fair in terms of value but I have a very hard time seeing either team going through with this.

Willy is a great scoring Winger to pair with a grinder & sniper like palat & incredible playmaker & all around talent in Hughes or Hischer, Sandin has Top 4 Potential & will probably come cheap since he just wants guaranteed playing time, Sevo is just dropping in the depth chart Hamilton & Marino are in-front of him imo, as well as getting a 1st,2nd & 3rd whilst dumping Johnsson, where is there an issue in value?

Nylander has two years left, would be dumb for the Devils to go all-in now. He doesn't make them a cup contender, just being a more likely playoff team for two years isn't smart.

Severson is better than Marino, but a decent margin. Marino's contract just fits with Nemec's timeline better, Severson is going to want 5-6 expensive years for an extension.

Value isn't completely unreasonable. Just doesn't make sense for the Devils to trade a young core player for a winger with very little control and a LHD that the Devils really don't need.

Mercer

Mercer gets you Willy & Sandy. Mercer is a great Talent that still hurts me cause we took Amirov instead, Mercer has great potential but is still imo unproven & moving him opens a slot for Holtz to slot in as he is looking like he’ll be a fringe nhl player sooner than later further excelling in his development to what i think is a ceiling of a A guaranteed Top 6 to Superstar Core Piece if all goes well
