Should Horvat be OTB

Created by: CEO
Team: 2022-23 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 3, 2022
Published: Sep. 3, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Selling Miller would be ideal, but we should seriously consider trading Horvat for picks and getting long term cap flexibility. Obviously its unfortunate, as Horvat is a great player, leader, and fan favorite. However we can't garuntee he won't test FA. Maybe we have to do the Unthinkable.

if canucks wanted klingberg they would've got him
resigning miller shows that the organization trusts this current team to go all the way, they won't sell horvat

The Horvat contract extension should be announced soon as well.

Kuzmenko might not even work out and Hoglander is going to have to earn his spot in the top 6, there's also nothing wrong with having a solid 1,2,3 down the middle. So, it's way too early to even be thinking of trying to move Horvat.

I find it hilarious that as soon as all the Miller to NSH proposals could finally die, VAN fans immediately just swap Horvat's name into the same proposals, and keep on like nothing changed.

It seemed unlikely that we could keep both, unless Horvat takes a discount for a 6M cap hit

Cannucks fans keep saying this but I don't see how it's true given the money he was asking, you weren't in the running for him from the beginning. You would have had to move out a fair bit of cap space in order to make it happen.

Sure, it's possible you COULD have made it happen, but you would have had to pay a fair few picks to move out the kind of cap needed to sign him in FA.
