Knight to MTL Chychrun to FLO

Created by: LIRIK
Team: 2022-23 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 3, 2022
Published: Sep. 4, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Knight and a 2nd to Montreal
Chychrun and Allen to Florida
Three first round picks and Hornqvist to Arizona

I think MTL is one of the few teams who have what Arizona wants for Chychrun. They need a good young goalie to grow with their young core. MTL trading their 2024 1st is risky, but Habs will probably be better by then and that pick will be out of the top 10.

Florida need to add a good top pair D to replace Weegar. They need to win now, and Chychrun helps them more than Knight does. They get Allen 50% retained for a 2nd. Could also be Montembault without retension for free.

Arizona get what they want for Chychrun. They don't want top prospects or NHL players, they want picks. Three 1st, including a 2023 unprotected 1st and a possible top 15 in 2024 should be enough to get Chychrun.

I think every team gets what they want.

this is actually one of the rare Montreal moves where i feel Montreal is the team with the worst return.
your being fair and it makes sense but that’s an awful lot for a young goaltender… but that’s about what he would cost.

Had to check to make sure you were a Habs fan. Habs get pillaged in this trade. Florida immediately accepts this, no take backs.

Lol... no. 4 1st round picks and Jake Allen for knight and a 2nd. That is robbery.

Edit: just noticed hornqvist goes to Arizona.

Hornqvist and 3 1st round picks doesn't get Jakob Chychrun, Not even close.

And fat chance of Florida moving Knight. After 2 more season they'd just buyout Bobrovsky before moving Spencer Knight.

You're gonna have to do a Florida ACGM to show us all how this works, because right now, Florida is over the cap by $3.375 million and
Chychrun = $4,600,000
Allen = $1,437,500
Total = + $6,037,500
Hornqvist = $5,300,000
Knight = $925,000
Total = -$6,225,000

Florida would likely have to send another small piece to Montreal to make this happen

Dump hornqvist and acquire chychrun and Allen for knight and a 2nd. The 2nd doesn't even cover hornqvist Allen and chychrun for knight... who they can't even afford next season. Yeah panthers take this easily.

What are you on about? It's not what they've asked for. It's a late 23 1st, then maybe a good one in 24 and then another probably late one three whole years from now. Plus where is taking Hornqvist being paid for? Arizona isn't accepting that. Obviously.

I think you assumed bob's buyout is better than what it actually is. They only save 3.3m over the 3 years and then have 3 years of 1.7m dead cap.

Or they can keep Bob till he's tradeaboe and fix their actual issue... defence. This team is screwed in a few years. They've already pushed in all of their chips.

3 1st is more than i’ve seen for a LD in a LONG time…
and Hornqvist gets Arizona back above the cap floor.
the rumor was 2 1st and a prospect for Chychrun. 3 firsts seems beyond fair. he isn’t Makar after all.

Florida would only trade Knight if they can get a Chychrun type of D.

Which makes me think that Montreal shouldn't be in the market for knight. Buying an overpriced Dman for an even more overpriced goalie doesn't seem very economic.

2023 1st is unprotected, 2024 1st could be really high, and the 2025 Calgary 1st can be switch for their 2024 1st if it's outside of top 20.

Arizona knows they're gonna have to eat cap back if they trade Chychrun to any contender. It comes with the price.

Heh. Florida's 1sr being unprotected ain't saying much. And you don't just get to send a cap dump for free, dude. Not sure how you got that idea.

If it was three 23 1sts, perhaps. And that's not the ask anyway. It's supposedly a good young player, an A prospect and a 1st.
