This trade would only happen with bo signing a long term extension, be a little scary giving the jackets bo to play between gaudreau and Laine , but would be ok with it cause it's in the east lol whatta line that could potentially be

Still though, why would Columbus do that?

I like Horvat as a #cbj fan, but holy moly that's an overpayment.

If Horvat wants to remain a Canuck, he will.

1. Canucks have $14 million in cap space for next year, with Horvat being the lone notable to sign (Hoglander get a mention, ok, more a foot note).

2. Given the contracts signed this year, comparable are:

Tage Thompson (term at just over 7 million per)
Nazem Kadri (term at $7 million per)
JT Miller (term at $8 million per).

Horvat's game and production are closer to that of Kadri. Thompson had one good year, and if that holds, he fits the comparison.

3. Horvat is a leader. Yes, you pay for that.

4. Given these facts, Horvat, I beleive gets term at $7.5-8 million a year.

Which leaves the Canucks $6 million to round out the roster.

No reason for them.to part ways unless that is what Horvat wants.

...we survived the Miller insanity only to have it start repeating with Horvat.

I hate this world.

He's a UFA next year, he's never been a high end point producer. You're lucky if you're going to get a first, it's a really deep draft. I love Boone Jenner as a #cbj fan, but Canuck Boone Jenner ain't worth a first plus Johnson plus Peeke.. holy moly.. even a first and Peeke is pricey.

Lots of different opinions..bo is great on the dots, hitting his prime, a shoot first centre, and money in the playoffs. I think his worth is a bit more than people realize, Johnston and peeke have a ton of potential, that doesn't mean they well pan out, lots of prospects even take high dont always pan out or reach the ceiling that was initially predicted,so what van would be trading for is potential/gamble, Columbus wouldn't be gambling they would be getting a player on a a new contract, that plays centre, loves to shoot and would thrive playing with an elite playmaker winger like gaudreau

Don't. Just don't. You know exactly what you're doing, you know exactly what you're asking us to give up, and it is frankly insulting that you're persisting in presuming that we're that stupid. The answer is no.

EXACTLY.. and I love Horvat, but he's 1 season away from UFA and he's not a top 30 center in this league. Johnson (1st round pick), Peeke ( Early 2nd round pick) and a first in a very deep '23 draft is Coo Coo for Cocoa puffs. Why would we give up three premium assets in this case.
