The Jets need another middle 6 winger if they hope to compete in the Central imo. Pearson fits that mold nicely - and upgrade on Barron.

Jets have the D depth to move DeMelo to achieve this - a move according to Friedman the Canucks are maybe looking to make (winger for D). DeMelo is a clear upgrade there over Schenn and Poolman at the RD.

Signing Strälman for a cheap one year deal is a stop gap waiting for Heinola, Gawanke, Chisholm...... and the guy and certainly still play. I am utterly shocked he is still on the market actually. Be a shrewd move for a number of teams looking for a bottom pairing guy that can still play minutes effectively.

Overall, not sure this team makes the playoffs, but their odds are improved quite a but imo.

Pearson is not worth making the already dreadful defence even worse and Stralman will be lucky to get a league minimum contract at this stage forget 1M

I don't believe the Jets blueline is dreadful. Team as a whole had a terrible year....

Issue for the Jets the last couple years has been the lack of tertiary offense. A case of (I believe) offense is the best defense. The 3rd and 4th lines got chewed up.

Strälman remains better than you think. Not a top 4 guy anymore, but absolutely can play in a bottom pairing. I wouldn't see this as a massive downgrade on Demelo. At least his advanced stats suggest such. If he signs for league minimum, even better. We are talking about $150,000.

imo jets need a 3C more than winger and we do not have the RD depth to make this trade. demelo is underrated and actually wants to be in winnipeg so the return would probably have to be an overpay if he was traded

We could get Pearson for like a 3rd or 4th round pick without having to include DeMelo who’s really underrated. The only way I’d trade DeMelo to Vancouver is in a package for Garland who fills the need of a top six winger and allows us to push Wheeler down to the 3rd line and give him less minutes which should make him more effective considering his age.

Demelo is fine like you say. Paying Lowry 3.25M for the next 4 years and he can't anchor the 3rd line is a much bigger issue than any surrounding a competent Dylan Demelo.
