Why not!? He replaces Petry and Provides Leadership & Mentorship to the Young D-Guys, especially in regards to QB'ing a Power Play

It's an interesting idea. I'd play Holloway at Centre and Nugent-Hopkins at LW and you need to know Drouin isn't always 100% Healthy or Reliable, but he's still very Talented. Swapping a 3rd for a 7th to compensate for the retention makes sense

Changes I would suggest are moving Foegele + a 4th for Joel Armia 50% Retained, as it opens up $1mil to complete the Roster and I think Armia's >> Foegele, he just needs a Change of Scenery. Also, Sign Anton Stralman instead of PK Subban. Subban would be more Fun & Exciting to watch (similar to Bouchard), but Stralman is much more Reliable Defensively and can Contribue Offensively just as much. I also see Ryan Murray being in the line-up over Broberg

They would have kept petry if they needed to replace him with barrie

Except for the Cap Space consideration, which they figured they needed at the time. Barrie comes in at $1.75mil/yr less over the next 2 seasons and MTL is no longer on the hook for the $6.25mil for a 3rd Season of Petry. That's a Huge Difference = $9.75mil in Cap Savings

Yes, you're right, I wasn't paying proper complete/full attention, my bad. I still think Barrie in MTL isn't necessarily a bad idea

Edmonton declines. They don't need another LW, especially not one who spends most of his time on IR. He's averaged about 20 points per season over the past 2 years, that's really bad. Why would the Oilers give up a 40-50 point defenseman who is healthy all the time for that - let alone adding a pick?? It's not logical.
