I understand your thinking but just because a Player signed recently doesn't mean they're not Tradeable if a Better Fit/Package comes along (not sure all LD's is the best fit though lol). Yzerman signed Anthony Mantha and then Traded him 5 months later. Rumors are Puljujarvi and JT Miller may be easier to move now that they've been signed to contracts as well

That because people don't see them as rental anymore with the fact thesis player have contract after this season give more control to the gm acquiring them. So if they pay an high price to obtain them, they would feel better giving more as they have contract and can't just play one year and left for nothing.

But yeah I do feel the same,I wouldn't want the reputation of signing a fee agent and few month after trade him away. That could be bad for free agent image of your franchise.

I agree with that sentiment. GM's can get a bad reputation and players may not want to sign and move their families if they know the GM could pull the trigger and they'd be on the move again, but in the case of Mantha & now Kunin, joining a contender may be of interest to them,
