Not that any of these acquisitions would necessarily make the team any better. I'm just more curious as to what each player's market value is.
Untouchable: either due to market value, they are more valuable to the team than they are on the market, and/or won't be moved for various other reasons
* First line: Kaprizov, Hartman, Zucc
* GREEF line: Greenway, Eriksson Ek, Foligno
* Young Guns: Rossi, Boldy, Wallstedt, Yurov, Öhgren, Peart, Faber
* D core: Brodin, Middleton, Spurgeon, Goligoski
* '23 1st rd pick
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MN WILD ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We are heading into 3 seasons of cap hell due to ~14M in dead cap space; however, expect to remain semi-competitive throughout that time. Really, the biggest concern is ensuring we are in a good enough place 3 years from now that Kaprizov would sign an extension during his prime years instead of looking elsewhere when his current contract is up (either via trade or free agency).
========== UNTOUCHABLES ==========
* Kaprizov = first legit super star in franchise history
* Zucc = Kaprizov's closest friend who'd throw a fit (KK that is) if we ever traded him
* Wallstedt = franchise goalie
* Rossi = potentially the first true 1C in franchise history
* Boldy = Calder contender
* Brodin = one of the best 2-way defensemen
* Yurov = potential first line winger and a fellow Russian that can converse with Kaprizov in his native tongue
* GREEF line = (Greenway, Eriksson Ek, Foligno) identity line
* Dumba = "available" by most fans but I'm way too big of a fan of his to give him up; in fact, I wish we extend him to a 5yr ext @ ~4-5.1M AAV
========== UNREALISTIC ==========
NOTE: Most of the "unrealistic" players are either due to their contract situations or locker room presence
* Hartman = not a true 1C but is outplaying his 3yr contract, locker room guy
* Spurgeon = our captain, underrated defensemen because he's undersized. That being said, I'm not his biggest fan given his contract and physical stature.
* MAF = would be strange to trade him given all that went into acquiring/retaining him
* Middleton = our only big defensemen that we just signed to a 3yr ext.
* Goligoski = veteran offensive defensemen, unrealistic just
========== UNLIKELY ==========
Similar to "unrealistic" but could be moved under the right circumstances
* Gaudreau = coach loves him but he's on an expiring deal
* Jost = traded for during last TDL, it's 50/50 whether Geurin is the kind of GM that'd trade a player after such a short stint
* Merrill = 7th D, physical, signed to a cheap 3yr ext
* Ohgren = #19 pick of 2022 draft
* Faber = shutdown RHD
* Gustavsson = backup goalie we got from OTT for Talbot, perfect goalie to hold us over until Wallstedt debuts
========== PROSPECTS ==========
Players I'm willing to part with UNDER THE RIGHT CONDITIONS. I listed their (position, draft pick, draft year, potential, size). I only highlighted prospects that may interest you, as well as the 2022 draft class. And to be clear, I like them all. I'm only providing brief descriptions to save y'all time. Players are ordered according to their mid-season rankings per that Scott Wheeler from The Athletic.
4. Lambos (LHD, #26, 2021, Top 4 D, 6'1") = top LHD prospect, 6'1", 2-way Top 4 D -> player comp. = Ryan Sutter
5. Addison (RHD, #53, 2018, No. 4-5 D, 5'10") = no. 4-5 D with additional PP upside, offensive defensemen, NHL-ready, great skater, undersized (5'10")
6. Khusnutdinov (C, #37, 2020, Top 9 F, 5'11") = strong work ethic, skilled, fast, playmaker, passer > scorer, player comp. = Granlund
7. Peart (LHD, #54, 2021, Top 6 D, 6') = 2-way defensemen, can play LD or RD, high hockey IQ, great skater, Mr. Hockey in MN
8. Beckman (LW, #75, 2019, Top 9 W, 6'1") = hard-shooting, shot-focused winger with a scoring touch, WHL MVP (2020)
10. O'Rourke (LHD, #39, 2020, 3rd pair D, 6') = gritty, rugged, reliable, jack-of-all-trades that can play both LD & RD
12. Daemon Hunt (LHD, #65, 2020, 6-7 D, 6') = strong, good skater, aggressive, put up 39pts in 46g w/ WHL team
16. Hunter Jones (G, #59, 2019, backup G, 6'4") = shows flashes but disappointed last season in the AHL last season
18. Firstov (LW, #42, 2019, Bottom 6 W, 6'1") = scorer, looked great in college but didn't show improvement
## 2022 Draft Class
#19 Liam Ohgren (LW) = swiss army knife, projects as a high-pace, creative middle-six winger, one of the highest floors
#24 Danila Yurov (RW) = not trading
#47 Hunter Haight (C) = 2-way center, improved during season, stand out in dev camp
#56 Rieger Lorenz (LW) = power forward, likely 3rd/4th liner
#89 Michael Milne (LW) = good compete, looked good in dev camp
#121 Ryan Healy (D) = skilled, mobile, poor decision making, stand out in dev camp
#153 David Spacek (D) = overager, PP point man, skating issues
#185 Servoc Petrovsky (C) = smart player, skating issues
Prospects I really like: Faber, Khusnutdinov, Ohgren, Lambos & Peart. I like all other prospects. Only reason I'd be willing to part with Lambos, O'Rourke, Peart, etc. is because they all project to be roughly the same player. They are all roughly 6'. So I'd only be interested in parting with one (or more) of them to get a larger D prospect like Bischel.
========== AVAILABLE ==========
Any player not mentioned above, including prospects. Draft picks (top 10 protected).

For Eichel, the ask from LV would be what Buffalo was hoping to get at the very least.
A-Prospect + TOP 6 F + 2 1sts ("four 1sts")
There's going to need to be a piece that could become their 1C or they would take a 2C as the top 6 roster player. There's also going to need to be a goal scorer.
I'm not too familiar with the Wild forward prospects/young players, just know of Rossi and Boldy.
Maybe the ask would be Boldy+ Eriksson EK+ two 1sts or 1st+3rd

There’s 2 players MIN has I’d move Marchenko for Boldy and Rossi, both are untouchable so I don’t think Minnesota has the assets to acquire him.
The other Krill, I don’t really know where to value him.

For Gabe Vilardi we'd want one of your three best LhD prospects. I'm not sure whether we'd want more.
what has vilardi proven to be worth a top prospect? they still have lots of potential and are young vilardi is 23 and can't even keep a full time nhl job.
LA kings prospect core is so overrated. Vilardi, akil thomas, jaret anderson dolan, kupari, bjornfot, clague, turcotte all of them had such "high" potential yet have done absolutely nothing for LA. Byfield and kaliyev are the only guys who still look promising to be a difference maker but even byfield isn't living up to the hype he had back at the 2020 draft.
currently vilardi would be lucky to get a 3rd at best maybe a 2nd if it's a team like colorado who is desperate for a Center and need cheap players.

None of these teams have any reason to trade their young D prospects
You mean not a single one of these teams wants to trade their prospects for the spare parts or futures from Minnesota since everyone of value is untouchable? I'm shocked.

True. Although, there's still Lambos (26th ova pick in 2021), Ryan O'Rourke (2nd rd, 2020), Khunustdinov (2nd rd, 2020), Addison (NHL-ready offensive RHD, Top 4 potential), Hunt, Beckman, etc. I even left Dumba off the list despite being a HUGE fanboy of his. That being said, I will admit that I chose to be a bit more liberal with who I considered to be "untouchable" in order to not distract from this post's intended purpose -- gauge what the market value was/is for each player.
In terms of players I listed as "untouchable" but would be willing to deal for the right asking price; namely, a franchise center or a player I really like (e.g. Bischel):
- Eriksson Ek = iff we can get a franchise C...obviously, we'd have to give up some other pieces as well
- Spurgeon = I'm not his biggest fan but given his contract, I assume y'all aren't interested neither....so he belongs more on the "undesirable" list (again, from y'all's perspective)
- Yurov, Öhgren, Rossi, Boldy, Peart, and/or any prospect not named Wallstedt nor Faber iff we can get a franchise center
If there's no one on the Wild that you nor your team would be interested in, just say so. I apologize if this came off as a slite against your team or an over-valuation of the Wild's players/prospects. I should've put that in the description.
