Probably at least one of Byron, Dadonov, Anderson, Hoffman, or Dvorak, maybe Armia.

Probably nobody, it wouldn't be a smart move to pay someone to move a cap dump especially when we dont need to.
Byron starts the year on LTIR, and probably one of Barron/Guhle starts in Laval.

I think Monahan might also start there, but I'm guessing an opportunity will present itself and Hughes will get ahead of it and trade someone even if it means a lower return.

Nobody. Byron on LTIR.

But during the season, Dvorack, Dadonov, Allen, maybe Armia.

After the season but before the draft, Hoffman will be a cap dump.

My bet is Dvorak gets traded at a discount. Hoffman, Byram and Armia will cost assets to move. Anderson doesn’t have value imo and Dadanov doesn’t rn either.

Why trade anyone at the start of the season?

Price and Byron both on LTIRetired, so, you have the cap room, run the current roster and see how they develop, Monahan, Dadonov and Drouin are likely trade deadline deals with salary retention to contenders, in exchange for futures.

Suzuki - Dach - Dvorak is a solid top 3 C going forward.

Allen stays, they need that stability in net if they're going to rely on Primeau developing eventually (assuming he ever does)

If Monahan become what he was with the Flames, I will likely sign at 4M than keeping Dvorack.

If he becomes what he was with the Flames, as a UFA he'll sign for a lot more than $4M elsewhere.

Dvorak is fine in the 3C role, and salary controlled, assuming Dach takes a step forward to fill that 2C spot.

I just forget to mentioned that Kent Hughes will sign an extension to Monahan before trading Dvorack.

Nobody.

Byron on LTIR

Drouin,Dadonov before TDL.

Also Monahan if healthy but not extended. Only if Monahan has a future in Montreal does Dvorak get offered on the market for an established RHD like Girard wink

Hoffman would be a miracle.

IMO Allen stays. It would take Primeau to burns the AHL and a very good offer but both wont have good stats so I highly doubt it.

Allen will be trade for a goalien like Hill or Lankinen. About Hoffman, make a big cap dump with somes picks.

Why not just resign Allen? He's better than those to and like playing in MTL

Because I want to sign a long-term deal with a great goalie like Tristan Jarry during the 2023 free agency, and keep Montenbeault as our 2nd goalie.

Yeah, apparently Dvorak has the most interest out of the bunch, and with Dach being a center (although he's not great at the circle) it makes Dvorak the most logical player to move.

He’s a brutal face off man. Real issue is Bergavin wasting all that money on Hoffman and Armia last year.

I'm guessing Slafkovsky is going to play, and he was asked by a bunch of teams if he could play C. So, perhaps he and Dach will take draws on their strong sides. There's also Monahan.

They might be able to move off Hoffman, Armia, or Anderson by the deadline if they prove their worth, and Dadonov is probably a lock for a deadline move with retention. Will take some time but Hughes will eventually get rid of enough of the big contracts that Bergervin signed. Luckily for them Drouin comes off the books when Caufield needs an extension next year.

Dadanov can be moved by the deadline. Real issue with him is the actual dollars owed. His cap hit isn’t that big a deal imo.

Yeah, 5.5m wouldn't be too hard to fit under the cap, I just think that they would retain just so that the receiving team would pay more, since it would allow them to make more additions, but yeah, I think if he were to be moved now it would have to be 50% retention and I don't think Hughes or maybe the Molson's want to be paying him 3.25m in salary for a modest return at best.

I think there’s a certain point where you have to accept a modest return tbh. They traded an LTIR contract for him. Getting anything for him should be considered a win.

Yeah, that's true but better off just paying to actually play on the team, and move him without retention for a modest return. If they just trade him at the half-way point of the season, it would be like retaining 50% on his cap now, except at least they have the cap space+a retention slot, which maybe they can use at the deadline to be a middle man. Might not work perfectly that way but perhaps they could find themselves in a better situation by waiting to move him.

Hoffman and/or Armia. Then any of the 1 yr contracts at the TDL.

Won't be "paying" to move anyone, just getting whatever return they can get or let them expire.

Im not a fan of Jarry and the Pens will try to keep him gor sure. The 2023 UFA market for goalie is pretty thin.

It's probably will be Primeau for the better or for worst.

Yeah well Weekes is reporting a multi-seasons extension for Allen, so you can forget about that.

My guts were right again smile
